RE: Re[4]: RENEWING .ORG domain(s) FAILED?
Ah... new status. Recently deleted, in a "holding" pattern for 30 days before release. RE: .ORG question
My suggestion would be to start seperating it out. While it will work like .com/.net for the first little while, PIR/Afilias is planning to migrate .org to a thick/EPP based registry model, so it will start working more like .info/.biz -- Charles Daminato Life is not holding a good hand; OpenSRS Product Manager Life is playing a poor hand well. Bloody perl modules!
I'm trying to install the latest version on a virtual server. No help from the ISP, but been able to install the easy modules by simply placing the files in /lib. I'm left with Unicode:String and XML:Parser that won't work. Does anyone know a way of installing these modules without any root access or help from ISP?! I think I might need a pre-compiled version (but might be wrong!) Any help, greatfully appreciated. Simon
Re: Bloody perl modules!
Simon, Some webhosting company (specially virtual hosting) won't allow you to install modules. Check their term of service (TOS). Be patient to them and send them another request. *shrug* No idea I think so, but I can't say authoritatively. RE: Bloody perl modules!
Thanks everyone for your ideas. Unfortunately, they all seem to rely on having some sort of access to a command prompt. The virtual servers I use have NO SSH, telnet, prompt, shell access, root access, nothing! I think that's why it's so tricky! I'm looking for an 'extra' host I think that does offer SSH just for my domain registrations. Thanks again all! RE: .ORG question
Got more information... *ahem* Domains will be deleted at day -40 starting this coming Monday (as opposed to the -36 we're using right now). That aside, I believe the registry's grace periods haven't changed (if that's the 45 days you're referring to). -- Charles Daminato Life is not holding a good hand; OpenSRS Product Manager Life is playing a poor hand well. Re: Bloody perl modules!
Hi, You don't need root access, and you ISP shouldn't install those modules to be available for all of their virtual hosts if they don't need them. You can simply create a directory where you can and then instead just "perl Makefile.pl" do "perl Makefile.pl PREFIX=/home/blabla/youraccount/dir" Then "make", "make test" if you want and "make install". The last will install the module in the /home/blabla/youraccount/dir so you don't need root access for that. Finally make sure you add your new perl modules dir somehow to be included in the client code, this is up to you. ("use lib thedirectory"; or just use the opensrs/lib directory above with PREFIX) Best regards, Doytchin Spiridonovmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.WebYou.com Web Design and Development --- Wednesday, January 29, 2003, 8:05:27 PM, you wrote: X> I'm trying to install the latest version on a virtual server. Re[2]: .ORG question
Hi, I guess Chuck said once that it is 30 days? Also it seems .COM and .NET have also 30 days REDEMPTIONPERIOD + 5 days PENDINGDELETE = 35 days. Jeff sent me this link it is very useful: http://www.dnso.org/clubpublic/ga/Arc11/msg01504.html My question - is there anywhere at opensrs.com published what are the redemption and delete periods for all the registrires supported by opensrs? Login Failures
Hi All, First off, I'm sorry to see Chuck go. Hope it's all for a good cause. I'm having an issue with one our clients not being able to logon. The user forwarded the entire message of the "Login Information" that is generated by the OpenSRS system and I was unable to logon to the service with that information. To make certain that the system was working right and that the OpenSRS socket was operating okay, I logged on to my own domains through. No problem. I'm wondering if there is a limitation on the username length that might be causing the problem. The registered username is 15 characters long. Seems kind of long for me, but not necessarily unreasonable for the system. Besides, it would have kicked it back, no? Anybody have any ideas of what to check next? Thanks in advance for the feedback! K. Ulriksen
Re: Login Failures
Hi Karyn, Check to see if there is a space at the beginning or at the end of the password. They wont show up in the reminder email. If all else fails forward the email (with headers intact) to support.
