Re: Siemens M20 and Kannel

I've tried restarting it about 10 times and unfortunately
 it hasn't made any difference.

Does it matter if the smsbox is or isn't running?

no it doesn't matter.

BTW, you won't be able to start smsbox without previously running
bearerbox :)

 Hi,

In the kannel.conf file I have:

And I when I start up the bearerbox I get this:

yes, this effect is known for GSM modems connected to serial com
lines.

I can't tell you exactly why Kannel does not get the hook to the
device at once, but we also have to fire up bearerbox at least 2 times
before it recognizes the device at a serial com line.

Simply retry a second or third time in the shell and you should get a
hook.

Ok.
The first thing = upgrade it to 5.4 or later
firmware.
Than check your conf file and
connection.
Try with minicom.

I have uploaded the upgrade software and some docs
on siemens M20 to :
www.pashkovsky.com/siemens/
In order to upgrade you will have to open the M20
terminal.
The software works from Windows OS, so you will
have to connect your M20 to some win98/2000 host.
Detailed instructions are inside.
