What are Fedora's mitigation procedures, when an infringement is
discovered? Are these documented anywhere?

Attempting to contact unresponsive maintainers - ddomingo, yruseva, cspicer, kheib

2018-04-02 Thread Kevin Fenzi
Greetings, we've been told that the email addresses for these package
maintainers are no longer valid. I'm starting the unresponsive
maintainer policy to find out if they are still interested in
maintaining their packages (and if so, have them update their email
addresses in FAS).

If they're not interested in maintaining or we can't locate them in 1
week, I'll have FESCo orphan the packages so that others can take them
over.

If you have a way to contact these maintainers, please let them know
that we'd appreciate knowing what to do with their packages. Thanks!

Announcing grokmirror for src.fedoraproject.org

2018-04-02 Thread Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.

I'm happy to announce we have grokmirror setup for src.fedoraproject.org
now. grokmirror is a efficient way to mirror remote git repositories.
If you wish to mirror some or even all src.fedoraproject.org git repos,
this is a much better option than polling each repo for changes all the
time.

Details on how to use the service are available at:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/Grokmirror

Any problems or issues with the service should be filed at the Fedora
Infrastructure issue tracker:

https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issues

Thanks, and we hope this service will be useful.

BTW all TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt images can be opened by cryptsetup.

So if your goal is to share encrypted device with other OS, it should work
out of the box in Fedora.

(Cryptsetup cannot create new Veracrypt images, intentionally.)

TrueCrypt upstream vanished in a puff of smoke in 2014, cancelling
development. All of the forks are based on that abandoned code, which is
under the same license that Fedora investigated and determined to be not
only non-free, but potentially dangerous to end users.

Since VeraCrypt is using TrueCrypt code (under the TrueCrypt license),
it cannot go into Fedora.

I really wish people would let it die. :/

Friendly Reminder: Your Legal Responsibilities as a Fedora Community Member

2018-04-02 Thread Tom Callaway
This should go without saying, but in Fedora, the following things
should be kept in mind:

1) Copyright infringement is not permitted. This includes code, fonts,
docs, or content like art/sprites taken from other works, either without
permission or under non-free licenses.

2) Trademark infringement is not permitted. This includes using marks in
contexts outside of fair use cases, such as, for example, including the
name "Donatello" and artwork of him as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, as
a character in a fighting game, or a character called "Maryo", who is a
plumber in a side scrolling adventure.

Packagers, _YOU_ are responsible for ensuring that the packages and
content you submit to Fedora does not contain material that falls into
these use cases. If you are unsure about this at all, please either
email le...@fedoraproject.org or block the Review Request against FE-Legal.

Reviewers, _YOU_ are ALSO responsible for checking packages for clear
cases of legal concern. If you are unsure about this at all, please
either email le...@fedoraproject.org or block the Review Request against
FE-Legal.

Most of you are very good about this, and I appreciate it. However,
lately, at least one package cleared review and landed in Fedora which
was obviously infringing upon both copyrights and trademarks (in
egregious ways), so I felt it useful to remind everyone of this.

Thanks,

~tom

EL6 fails NVRA check

2018-04-02 Thread Richard Shaw
I bumped the epoch on the referenced subpackage but the check doesn't seem
to care:

: duplicate key value violates unique
constraint "rpminfo_unique_nvra"
DETAIL: Key (name, version, release, arch,
external_repo_id)=(tqsllib-devel, 2.4, 1.el6, x86_64, 0) already exists.

Shouldn't the check include the epoch?

The Bodhi integration with Greenwave is not complete, but is kind of a
"bare minimum" implementation: there is a cron job that runs every 6
hours to poll greenwave about non-stable Bodhi updates. It's not ideal.
The goal is to add a fedmsg listener so that Bodhi knows about Greenwave
decisions immediately[0].

However, fedmsgs are not guaranteed to be delivered, so in the original
design it was decided that we needed to have a cron job *and* a fedmsg
listener. The cron job would be there in case any fedmsgs from Greenwave
were lost (so that we didn't get updates that are eternally stuck), and
the fedmsgs would be the "normal" path for synchronous decisions. Since
the cron job would "work" (not great, but work) without the fedmsg but
the fedmsg would not work without the cron job (eternally stuck updates)
we decided to implement the cron job first. Unfortunately, I have way
too many higher priority items on my list right now so I haven't
prioritized adding the fedmsg listener (pull requests welcome ☺).

I don't know if there is a way to know this right now, other than
waiting up to 6 hours.

Bodhi does actually have a UI to submit waivers (to avoid the CLI and
the confusing data hunting), but it needs an auth token configured to
allow it to talk to waiverdb[1] (Bodhi hides the waiverdb UI when it
doesn't have a token to talk to waiverdb). Fedora infrastructure is
currently in a freeze, so we cannot add that token at this time. The
freeze should lift on Wednesday.
