[riot-devel] Release 2017.07 - RC2
Dear RIOTers, thanks to all the hard work, we were able to successfully run all the tests specified by the release specs and fix all errors we encountered (almost all of them connected to test applications). So I am happy to announce the 2nd (and supposedly/hopefully last) release candidate towards RIOT 2017.10! [1] As always, testing of RC2 is coordinated in the dedicated issue [2] and any help is much appreciated! If everything goes well, the final release should be out by this Friday. So as a reminder: please take a look at the preliminary release notes [3] and add everything you see fit. Dear RIOTers, we are happy to announce the 12th official release of RIOT: --- * RIOT 2017.07 * --- This release provides fixes, code cleanup and improved documentation, as well as enhancements. New features brought by this release include: - CAN bus support (Controller Area Network) - Support for CoAP OBSERVE requests - Basic Thread stack integration (initial support for OpenThread) - Radio duty cycling with LwMAC protocol - LoRa radio drivers supporting Semtech hardware About 230 pull requests with about 442 commits have been merged since the last release and about 13 issues have been solved. 45 people contributed with code in 56 days. 1395 files have been touched with 211720 insertions and 65729 deletions. Dear RIOT'ers, I've just tagged the second release candidate of the next release 2017.07 [1]. There is an issue for tracking the testing progress at [2]. If you have some hardware required for testing (sensors, radios, boards), please try the related test applications and raise issues if you still find some. Final 2017.07 release is still planned for the 14th of July. [riot-devel] Release 2017.07 - feature freeze is next week
Dear RIOTers, Here is reminder about the decided planning for the next release: - Feature freeze is next friday, 30th of June - Release is still planned 2 weeks after, the 14th of July Next week there will be the monthly Hack'n'ACK which is the good time to have pending PRs merged before the feature freeze. Any help in reviewing or testing will be greatly appreciated, so stay tuned. If you are mentioned [1], assigned [2] or have review requested [3] to opened PRs, please try to put some more effort to fix/review/ack/merge them. Of course, we won't be able to merge everything before the end of next week. So if a PR cannot be ready for this release, I'll silently postpone it to the next version (2017.10 [4]).
