Hi all,

Qt 5.9.0 RC is now available. Diff to beta4 can be found as an attachment.

You can update RC at the top of existing online installation by using

release via online installer are here:
https://wiki.qt.io/How_to_get_snapshot_via_online_installer. At this
time there is also offline installers available, see
http://download.qt.io/development_releases/qt/5.9/5.9.0-rc/

Please test the release as soon as possible and report your effort via
https://wiki.qt.io/Qt59_release_testing. We are planning to release Qt
5.9.0 final Wed 31.5.2017.

https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-60837 should be fixed for 5.9.0.
The fix is up on Gerrit the whole week already, but the release team is
refusing to merge it and make an RC2.

If such issues are not cause for a RC2, then why do we bother with betas and
RCs at all? Just branch off of dev, call it 5.9.0 and follow up a few weeks
later
with 5.9.1.

To be honest this comment feels a bit unfair: Original error report was P2 and
quite many important information were missing. And that's why this wasn't seen
as a blocker for the release or critical enough for 'rc2'.

We have re-evaluated the decision based on new information got today & we agree
we should fix this before release. That's why we have already staged the fix in.
Hoping all will proceed OK and we can release rc2 (= RC + just a fix for
QTBUG-60837, nothing else) on Monday and keep the original schedule for the final.

br,
Jani
