Supposedly the install doc says need to upgrade 2.5 to 3.0 BUT then do not start Axapta...rather just apply SP5. So basically each version is a milestone I would say Interesting as it sounds like you say you have not taken this approach but gone directly to the service pack...I am just wondering does that not mean your SYS layer is actually a 2.5 version? You'll have to check with them since I could be wrong. However, I've done 3 upgrades from 2.5 to SP3 in the past 6 months and I'm working on a 4th to SP4. There are some hotfixes that were issued for SP3 that had jobs to run in addition to the upgrade. The developers made a royal mess of inventory. In general, Microsoft says you cannot skip major releases, so you can't go from 2.1 to 3.0 (skipping 2.5), or 2.5 to 4.0 (skipping 3.0), but unless there is something mentioned in the service pack documentation you should be able to migrate to the newest service pack of the next higher release. As a customer or VAR, I would be sorely angry if Microsoft came out with a service pack that made such major changes that I had to do a double upgrade within a major release. Due to the difference of the responses, I recommend you check with Microsoft. [development-axapta] Problem in Virtual Company
Hi, I created a New Virtual Company Account say VC1 and added table collection which containes only LedgerTable. I included 2 Company account DAT and DMO both has records in Ledger table. When I open the Chart of Accounts No records has been listed. can any body explain me how to setup virtual Company. Thanks in Advance. I found a way using the AOT to get the properties but that seems to be a long way around to get a simple peace of info. Hi, FIrst thing you never add a table to a virtual Table collection which has records. If you have to have that table first export the table, then go through the process of adding table collection, then imprt the exported table back. When you add the records to any table shared in Virtual Collection the dataareaid is replaced by the Compnay ID of virtual company. The records are now belonging to the companies listed under the Virtual Company. TIPS 1) Implementation of Virtual Company has to be planned ahead and it is not recommended to do any time in between. Then you have to do the task as mentioned above. 2) Transaction tables should never be shared. 3) If you shared a master table remember that all the ancillary tables (groups) should be same in all the companies listed under the Virtual Company. You need to change the dataareaid field value in all the records in (e,g,) Ledger table. Try and create one record manually on the form and then use Database table browser (not Axapta one) in order to see the difference between old DAT/DMO records and new VC1 record.
