Re: [freenet-dev] Installers need upgrading.
I've done the most recent work on the wininstaller. freenet-modern.nsi is the current NSIS script which builds fine with the latest version of NSIS. freenet-new.nsi doesn't actually exist anymore. The current installer on the Freenet website should correctly identify both Java 1.4 and 1.5. Feel free to ask if you need to know anything more. It is for Java 1.4, which is not only not the most current version but has shown to have serious security bugs (see http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3439391). The installer that does not include a JVM forces me to download 1.4 despite the fact that I have 1.5. The one that does come with a JVM crashes on my Win XP computer. Will someone either upgrade the installers or inform me how I can upgrade them? Thanks. I'm afraid the Windows installers have always suffered from neglect. I don't think anyone is currently assigned to maintain them. You are welcome to take a shot. They can be found in the contrib\wininstall CVS. They are Nullsoft scripts. Ok, I had just grabbed the tarball off the snapshots directory...from July 2004! Woops. When I build the freenet-modern.nsi from CVS the freenet-webinstaller.exe detects Sun Java 1.5 but the version of freenet-webinstaller.exe in the snapshots directory doesn't...! The freenet-webinstaller.exe file in the snapshot directory is from December 2004. Is it possible you didn't upload the latest version after you got it working?
