It might seem very superficial, but I think the ability to select colors is
actually important - just as it is for Legends in GIS (in fact, it would be
nice to be able to apply the legend colors to charts as well).

Yes sounds good. Please write a blueprint for each, and also please include
some more detail here, like how do you instruct the system on which data
elements/indicators/reporting rates belong to which axis/chart types.

Some mock-ups would be appreciated.

Okay.

I my mind the limitation with scatterplots is that they are not very
scalable - basically you need to use it for events, and you need to map all
events on a single charts without aggregation.

Let me chip in here:
- finding a way around the "Indicators cannot be specified as filter." issue.

Then a few things which I understand is difficult with the current chart 
framework, but that would still be nice to have some day…:
- more flexibility in the "layout", e.g. two axis with different scale 
(indicator vs raw data in same chart etc)
- combining chart types, e.g. line + bar
- scatterplots, though only if there is more flexibility in the layout so that 
you can have data on X and Y axis

Well, you can add the same widget multiple times, and then on initial load
just show a simple selection box. If you want to make it more fancy, you
could attach the possible images to a system settings using base64'd data
urls.

If it's worth a blueprint or not, I don't know. You can always create it :)
you still would have to deal with image upload somehow, either on the disk
using filestore, or base64.

NOT to have to create an app for every image you want to include? Would be
nice if this could be supported out of the box (perhaps through automatic
wrapping in exactly such an app?). Blueprint?
