This thread, not directly related to Hampal, might be of interest to
you.

I have copied msvcr80.dll and msvcp80.dll into c:\windows\system32.
Any other suggestions?

Don't place those DLLs manually on to your system. That is not the way
they are intended to be installed (and it will likely mess stuff up).
Try removing the DLLs you placed and use the proper VC8 redist (as
always, make sure it's still signed by Microsoft before running... I
don't know if it's on Microsoft's site if you prefer to get it that
way).

[digitalradio] Re: new operator question - I did not find an FAQ

2006-08-16 Thread bcpink
Peter,

Here's a good article that just got me started using PSK31. I use
the sound card already built into my computer going into a TenTec
ORION.

Seems to be working great.

This is the first time for me to ever try anything digital. I'm
usually on HF SSB

Thanks to everyone else here, too. Some good info!

Re: [digitalradio] About Icom 7nnn rcvr and txcvr remote operation from a PC

2006-08-16 Thread KV9U
HRD is one program that works for some rig control and logging and even
PSK31. The main use for me is if I want to have a large number of stored
frequencies such as for SWLing.

I have found that the best digital program is Multipsk since it has more
modes and stays very current. The basic version is free but you can
purchase it for additional features. It has the ability to connect via
the DX Lab Suite of programs which have a number of modules you can pick
and choose to use. The Commander module Multipsk to interface with most
all rigs that have an interface and it works amazingly well with the
ICOM CI-V interface.

These two programs are critiqued on eham.com's Product Review section. I
have found them to be as good or even better than some of the programs
that require initial and/or annual fees. Both authors of these programs
are on this reflector and are superb at helping you or even tweaking the
software for you.

I use a homebrew interface for CI-V control based upon a circuit
contained in the HRD documentation on interfacing and then a USB to COM
port converter. For the audio connections, I use isolation transformers
between the sound card and the rig.

Rick, KV9U

OK, got a good check up from the onco, no growth to speak up in almost 3 yrs.
Moving along...

Just got off the phone from ICOM Tech Spt
They do not make any software to run a rig BUT this particular tech said that
the best he has found out there is:

HAM RADIO DELUXEhttp://hrd.ham-radio.ch/

which he further states is a free download. It allows you to change freqs,
adjust this and that and so on and so forth.

How about someone downloading it and then posting a review?

Or, has anyone or IS anyone using this s/w now ??

Again, this is for a Chinese interface cable with a mini plug on the end for
the REMOTE hole on the back plane of the txcvr and a USB or a 232 on the
other end to plug into a PC. These CI-V cables are all over ebay if you are
looking to buy one.

You do NOT need a rigblaster or a rascal according to today's talk with the
tech UNLESS you want to run MORE THAN one txcvr. THAT saves about $100 or
more.!!!

hope this helps

band, date/time (UTC), call sign, exchange message sent and received,
multipliers and QSO points.

Please submit electronic logs as plain ASCII-files. Do not send Word,
