I once had an application to overlay a picture to be transmitted by
hampal with QSL info or to send a QSL to a station using hampal.
The file has been lost. Dose anyone know the name of this application?

Re: [digitalradio] Re: Singapore : New on PSK31 and JT65A

2007-04-15 Thread Steinar Aanesland
Hi Bob,

I will try to explain this in my Norwegian-English way.

Should I normally listen with it unchecked to search the larger
subband?. Get in mind that I am a complete bozo, but my experience is
that when the frequency is crowded and the subband is to large only the
big guns is coming through . In Europe we have some hams using more
the 100W in this weak power mode, and they are drowning hams outside
EU. So the conclusion is, I prefer a smaller subband . I set the TOL to
100 Hz, and I am never right on 14.076 but always some few Hz away. I
will explain why later.

If it is unchecked, does the green bar in SpecJT make any difference?
I don't think so. The way I understand this is that the program search
the green bar to see if it can find a signal regardless if the freeze is
unchecked or not. If it is unchecked it has -+ 600 Hz to scan.

Does clicking somewhere in SpecJT or the other graph actually set the
real transmit frequency? This is an easy one. The answer is no. The
clicking only affect your receiving. It is your VFO that set your
transmit frequency. The sync tone will be at 1270.5 Hz . in SpecTJ. You
can set this to zero by choosing JT65 DF axis in the SpecTJ menu . I
(almost) always pick a frequency a few Hz away from the main 14.076.
In that way it is easier to find me in the crowd.

I hope this was understandable ;)

Here is an quick and dirty guide to capture LA5VNA this afternoon:

Set the VFO on 14.075,700, set the TOL at 50Hz, and start listen after
me at 11:00 UTC. If the frequency is free I will start calling exact
11:00 ( Tx first checked ) .

Hope to see you there Bob.

If I know the time and freq. I think I can set it to do aggressive
deep search on a narrow freq. window. I am still not clear on how
having freeze checked vs. unchecked works. Should I normally listen
with it unchecked to search the larger subband? If it is unchecked,
does the green bar in SpecJT make any difference? Does clicking
somewhere in SpecJT or the other graph actually set the real transmit

clear from the documentation and guides.

[digitalradio] DXLab running under MS Vista

2007-04-15 Thread kv9u
With help from Dave, AA6YQ, I have been able to load and run DXLab
Launcher, Commander and DXKeeper under Vista. I expect that any of the
DXLab suite modules will work under Vista but I have not tried them.
Perhaps some other group members have done this and can update us.

Because of the greatly increased security of Vista, you can no longer
manipulate executables as easily as you could in the past. You must have
root privileges which Vista calls Administrator.

You may find that a program just will not install. For example, I was
unable to even extract the zip files initially. Here is the procedure
that I used:

Right Click on the file you want to extract
Select Properties from the sub menu
Select the Compatibility tab
Go to the last item - Privilege Level
Check the box run this program as an administrator

This allows you to have root control over the file. I am not sure why other
files I have extracted do not need this but I am sure
we will find out such things as we use the OS more.

Because of the greatly increased security of Vista, it just will not let
programs (malicious or not) have the privileges that were possible under
the previous, more unsecure versions of MS OS, so it does take a bit of
getting used to. But it will become second nature after a while and it
also makes you realize that when you manipulate files (even moving them)
you are doing things that you don't want some rogue program doing as
used to be the case.

When you enter into a root privilege the screen mostly darkens except for the
User Account Control window that opens up and is highlighted. You can not miss
the fact that you are doing some thing at the root level.

One offshoot of this increased security is that everytime you boot DXLab's
Launcher module, you will have to give it permission to run. Perhaps there is,
or will eventually be, a method to let Vista know that this program is OK to
run anytime.

[digitalradio] RigBlaster PRO w/WinDM - Setup Question Help Please

2007-04-15 Thread k5hsv
Hello Group,

I've recently installed the RigBlaster Pro and attempted to get WinDM
installed and working, without success I might add. My question is, do
you have to have two sound cards to make WinDM work? Also, are there
any special jumper settings that I need to use on the RigBlaster Pro to
make this work without 2 sound cards? According to West Mountain
Radio, two sound cards aren't needed but I can't seem to get the
RigBlaster Pro and WinDM to work together.

My rig is a TS-2000 and I'm running out of the speaker #2 to the
computer sound card's MICROPHONE IN and speaker out of the Sound card
to the RigBlaster Pro's Audio in. I've been told by a friend and I
believe I read it here, that the ACC #2 port on my TS-2000 was the way
to go.

Any experienced users information will be greatly appreciated. I can't
wait to get this program working. Ideas on set up please?

Re: [digitalradio] RigBlaster PRO w/WinDM - Setup Question Help Please

2007-04-15 Thread Andrew O'Brien

Howard, I use a Microkeyer interface for CW and digital modes. All my sound
card digital applications use the ACC2 jack on the TS2000 . I can also run
them via the Mic jack. The initial confusing thing when starting DRM is the
fact that you run the software like regular digital modes EXCEPT you use the
computer's microphone and talk in to it while you sound card is producing
tones transmitted by your radio. So make sure you have your PC mic plugged
in and the mic active in your sound card mixer , I plug mine directly in to
the sound card.

My set up for WinDRm is as follows, one sound card

RX INPUT = Realtex AC 97 Audio
TX Outpt = Realtex AC 97 Audio
