[digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT
I am helping someone set up FL-DIGI with an Icom 706MKII. Using Hamlib and the radio from the drop-down list Icom796MKII Untested we achieve rig control for frequency changes but NOT PTT. Using rig control and a XML file for the 706MKII we did not achieve either. So, it looks like Hamlib is doing everything except PTT, anyone have any suggestions? Andy K3UK
Re: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT
Andy, try using RigCat for radio control. Download the IC706MKIIG file from http://www.w1hkj.com/xmls/icom/ICOM706MKIIG.xml, put it in the fldigi.files/Rigs folder, select the ICOM706MKIIG, and be sure the tiny diamond to use RigCat is selected. You may have better luck with RigCat than HamLib. 73, Skip KH6TY http://kh6ty.home.comcast.net - Original Message - From: Andrew O'Brien To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2009 9:05 AM Subject: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT I am helping someone set up FL-DIGI with an Icom 706MKII. [digitalradio] GoogleTalk interfaced with PSK Reporter
Philip N1DQ has added a very intersting feature to PSK Reporter, it is still quite experimental but I seem to have it working just fine. PSKreporter now will report the rig information and digital signals decoded by a particular hams via GoogleTalk or similar IM systems. For example , while typing this message the following popped up on my GoogleTalk screen with an audible alert. Sent at 8:32 AM on Saturday n1dq: Just received PSK31 from HA6NL in Hungary on 20m (4171 miles / 6712 kms) [new country] This occurs via the uploading of information from Ham Radio Deluxe and DM780 to the PSK Reporter site . It would probably work with other digital mode software that can send to PSK Reporter. To follow where my rig is, and what I am decoding , you can add the following to google talk k...@rx.pskreporter.info you can also add n1dq@rx.pskreporter.info Andy K3UK

Andy, double-check the configuration items. I have the IC-7000 and the RigCat works perfectly. I'll try to find out if RigCat works with any other IC-706MKIIG's. 73, Skip KH6TY http://kh6ty.home.comcast.net - Original Message - From: Andy obrien To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2009 9:41 AM Subject: Re: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT We did that and nothing worked at all , so we figured hamlib was closer to working... Rick's right, Andy. You can use the SignaLink +, or SignaLink USB, or build your own interface. If you want to build an interface, here is a link to one that does not use the serial port or USB port, but is powered from the IC-706 mic jack: http://home.comcast.net/~kh6ty/interface/ I have made a few commercial-quality circuit boards available as stated on the web page. 73, Skip KH6TY http://kh6ty.home.comcast.net - Original Message - From: Rick Ellison To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2009 10:04 AM Subject: RE: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT Recent Activity a.. 14New Members Visit Your Group Yahoo! Re: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT
He is using the Icom 706MKII with a Microham Digikeyer , would not this provide the ability to PTT via FLDIGI and the 706 ? Perhaps FLDIGI would need to comm ports to configure, one for rig control and another for PTT. Perhaps by NOT clicking the USE RIGCAT option the Digikey would do the PTT. PTT IS achieved by pressing the test button in the Microham device router , so software control of PTT for the 706MKII can be achieved. [digitalradio] picture packet prgm
Hi, new user here, Jim kw3u in NE Pa. our local ares/races group is putting a packet system together fm various tnc's and are now at the point where we would like everyone to use the same prgm. I have been checking out some of them and found an old one called picture packet that seems to work with all nicely, but a lot of the features are grayed out. If anyone has a full version it would be appreciated, I think it was in the 1990's. also any other simple to operate programs for windows. thanks Jim kw3u

If you are using a digikeyer you should be able to make it work Set one port for radio control and the second for PTT. Whatever port in the digikeyer is setup for PTT you will need to set that on the first pane of the Fldigi radio config Hardware PTT once you do this you should be all set. 73 Rick N2AMG http://www.n2amg.com -Original Message- From: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com [mailto:digitalra...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Andy obrien Sent: Saturday, April 11, 2009 11:41 AM To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Cc: micro...@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [digitalradio] FLDIGI with a Icom706MKII no PTT He is using the Icom 706MKII with a Microham Digikeyer , would not this provide the ability to PTT via FLDIGI and the 706 ?
