Re: [digitalradio]my last word(To the Moderators)

2009-11-25 Thread Kurt Tuttle
To the Moderators,

This is my opinion and mine alone. I think that this thread has outlived it
usefulness. You have one saying put your money where your mouth is and
contester need to have busy dect. Then what is good winlids or packeters.

I myself have heard it all before and it hasn't changed. My opinion on certain
modes and operations will be noted to the FCC when and if they decide to get
involved.

I feel that those that want to continue this take it off the group.

Again just my opinion as things are starting to get personnel.

Kurt

Makes a lot of sense

Let me try it this way - if I'm operating with my mark tone
on a freq between your mark and space you never bother
my QSO. Why is that the every time you hear a tone
close to your operating freq it's QRM.

It seems to a lot that you just like to complain.

Re: [digitalradio] Disinformation about ALE by N5PVL Re: Getting serious about ALE / LID factor

2009-11-23 Thread Kurt Tuttle
Wow another rant. I don't care for contesting, but they are not the only QRM on
the band. ALE can be, Winlids for sure but wait lets bring up cw and ssb, and
of course AM, this is even during a contest. QRM is a way of life, get over it.

Charles,

Your constant efforts to spread disinformation about ALE use in ham radio shows
how little you know about how hams are using ALE.

If you are really concerned about lids on HF, start with the #1 primary source
of QRM: contesters.

Re: [digitalradio] Linux Here I come!

2009-10-31 Thread Kurt Tuttle
I have to agree with using Ubuntu, and 9.10 is out. I upgraded from 9.04 and
had no problem. You can also copy it to a disk and run it off that to make sure
you like it before you do a hard install.

I do wish HRD was available for Linux and I would dump windoze completely.

I'm using ubuntu 9.10 here now and its great.
You can install fldigi through synaptic, fldigi 3.11.4 is on the mirrors.
I recommend that you learn about mirrors and synaptic, on ubuntu. The ham radio
section is packed.

We have had few new people join this group after the QST article on RS ID.
Since many of them are NEW to digital modes other than RTTY or PSK31... I
thought I would challenge the people who have not ventured away from PSK31 or
RTTY to try a task this weekend. Three QSOs in three different modes. To keep
is focused, I suggest you choose from these 5 modes

If you have NO clue about these modes, great... just ask and we will get you

up.

Re: [digitalradio] Inexpensive digital mode interfaces with LINUX ?

2009-10-15 Thread Kurt Tuttle
Hi Andy, I have the donner rig and digital interface for my IC-738 but I use XP
because my main program is HRD (This is my 6th one). Send Whitey or Carol a
message and ask them, I am sure they give you a quick answer. They have great
service after the sale, and they are true plug-n-play.

Does anyone know if there are inexpensive digital mdoe interfaces that work
under Linux, have a usb conenctor, and provide  CAT rig control ?   I have a
good inertface but it supports Windows only.  For some upcoming projects I
would like to have one that works under Linux.  I was looking at the Donner
digital interfaces but it is not clear if they require software that works with
Windows or they are multi-platform
