Yes, and when i use the page on my cellphone (Windows Mobile 5.0 pda),
it re-sends my information over and over again. The only thing i can do
(unless
someone has a solution) is (1) send my info, (2) go to another website, any
website, (3) return to the spotting page and don't enter any more info.

Bonnie or anyone else, any suggestions for a 7MHz rubber duck
type antenna? I think i could mount one on my FT-817 -- i believe
the HF output can be switched to the front-panel connector.

Or a recipe for a homebrew duck.

Definitely agree with that. mfsk-16 is the only digital mode i like
to use for skeds (for rag-chewing on a sked that is).

For random contacts, psk-31 is just fine. But if i want nearly
error-free copy during skeds, mfsk-16 is my choice. I've never
had much luck with ALE, but am going to keep trying ALE
several hours more (on separate days) before i give it up.
I gave up on PSK-125 pskmail for email. For sending email on
HF my choice is still Pactor-1. (I don't have the modems for
Pactor-2 or -3.)

Just curious, is anyone on this list using the
Digital Radio Interactive Sked Page
(http://www.obriensweb.com/drsked/drsked.php)
for anything other than HFLINKNET / ALE stuff?

Or has anyone seen any activity there lately for other
than ALE testing?

Just checking.

I have a Win98SE machine with soundcard and it does
PSK-31 just fine. I believe it works with DigiPan 2.0, and
it did work 2 yrs ago with the then-current version of MultiPSK.

This is a 150MHz Pentium-1 machine, ancient. (Of course i
probably wouldn't want to try to run the latest version of WSJT
on it.)

Andrew, did you lengthen the refresh time on that page?
I haven't actually timed it, but i seem to be able to type in
enuf text (on my cellphone) now, before it refreshes. I was
doing that last night.

One person was saying that 20 meters was dead (9pm
Thursday evening California time) but i worked BP40 (from
my CN90) 2000 miles Anchorage AK and an 8-station, this
with bpsk31.

The numbers were something like:
SFI 69
A 22
K 2 ... which certainly isn't ideal.

However did not hear much on 14076 jt65a. I called CQ and
got a response from AF6AS (500 miles from me) but he was
-22dB and the contact died.

Definitely worth looking into now. Orrin WN1Z

 Orrin,

It's a lot of fun to work VHF during the major
showers. The ionized trails will usually last long
enough to get a few words in on SSB.

The daily sporadics are more challenging since the
reflections are much shorter and weaker. The six
meter band is a good place to start and it doesn't
hurt to operate during the AM peak.

de wn1z:

This is the way i do it: i go to the Windoze command line,
type 'time' and it prompts me for a new time. Meanwhile i'm
listening to WWV on 10 Mhz. I type in the new time, but don't
hit the ENTER key until wwv beeps on the minute.

Then, to make sure i did it right, i go into the Windoze settings
to see the simulated analog clock, watch the second-hand move
and make sure it hits straight up when wwv beeps the minute
again.

That's as good as it's going to get for me with no internet
connection at home. Should be good enuf.

This is very good information -- turn off the

I mistakenly thought that call3.txt could be used

[digitalradio] verify callsign?

2007-04-23 Thread WN1Z
Howdy folks,

I had my first JT65A qso with wb6mlc, just
maybe 200 miles distant, no challenge there ...
we often talk on SSB ... then Sunday with EA7DUD
in Spain.

I normally don't even try to work Europe, too
much competition with other stations stateside.
Personally i detest contesting.

Can anyone else state they have QSOd with EA7DUD
and they believe this is not someone just pirating
that callsign? I know this sounds suspicious and
wacky, but i know Bill k6acj also is wondering
about some of this DX.

There is no insult intended here, just looking for
some assurance please ...

I also heard 7L4IOU, Japan, and the distance from
here in California is maybe 5000 miles to Japan and
not quite 6000 to Spain, so Spain is believable.
