Yesterday, I listened to a recording of one of the crew on the ship
calling into the regular 911 operator, using a mobile cellphone.

According to the news today, all 22 crewmembers are safe and were able to 
weather the storm!

hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, wily-wily's et. al. at sea, they're
in the best place they can be (short of being in another ocean).
