[digitalradio] Re: Packet from ISS digipeater

2008-12-19 Thread Graham
Hi Russell,

Well I made a one off payment a long time ago .. for my pk232-mbx ,
well to be more accurate , one for the pk232 and one for the add on
board with a mail box and that new fangled packtor thing that dident
work as well as plx's amtor .. not forgetting winpack ...very
usefull .. Ah but what happend the the sv??? packet engine that I
think eventually ran a sound card as well as allowing multi connects
with winpack

looks like I need to connect the pk232 to the ft897 and all will be
fine ... lucky I still have the hand book and the Y printer cable for
fax on the epson dot matrix ...

G ..

ps kind a fun thing is to run packet at 50 baud .. talk about over
heads in the data string / packet no wonder it falls over on hf !

Hello Russel and Rick,

I confirm: RX/TX in Packet + Kiss interface + part of the TCP/IP interface
are not limited when APRS and Packet digipeaters (+ the responder + other
part of the TCP/IP interface) are submitted to a licence.

You must push the "Unproto" button to TX in APRS or to connect in Packet.

2008-12-17 Thread Russell Blair
Rick, Yes you might be right, the APRS and Packet will work in Unproto mode, I
need to read some more about this and see why I can get the software to key the
radio, Hower other programs does key the radio. just some setting somewhere.

Thanks Russell

Hi Russell,

I had thought that the Multipsk mode that required payment was some kind
of digipeater built-in to the program. But shouldn't 1200 baud packet
work without any time limit? I do not recall a time limit on the
versions that I have used in the past.

Graham, yes it a Digi repeater on the ISS. I was using MultiPSK 4.11.1 but for
me to get to work in the TX mode I would have to pay for the program, or you
can get 10 mins free. I have used up my 10 mins. I can only Rec now. Looking

Good question.
For the most part is has been used to post you APRS position as a DIGI.
Some (and this has been a pet peeve of mine for years) seem to want to
have a QSO. That just causes many many retry's and one one can use the
system. Yes there is a BBS on board. But using it will really screw up things.

May like to look atwww.ariss.netto see who has been heard via ISS.
