Re: [digitalradio] Final results to EA PSK31 CONTEST
Hello all: Thanks to all: I hope to do it better next year. I will propose this matter to the Contest Committee. The contest's official website is: http://www.ure.es (Spanish and English language) Also published on my web site at: http://www.ea4zb.com and in various magazines and Yahoo and Google groups. I would need from you web addresses to contact Radioclubs around the world who like digital modes and PSK31 to send them information for the next year. I know there are many folks to whom this information doesn't come and I would like to improve this for next year. Could you help me? RE: [digitalradio] Final results to EA PSK31 CONTEST
Joaquin, I myself was unaware of the contest until I saw the CQ's appear on the waterfall so maybe not enough people heard about it. If you don't have a web site maybe you and others can get one up before your next contest. I think people tend to keep web site addresses more than they do emails. You can put a small web site up on Google for free so people can have a place to look for your contest information. It's easy and it is certain that there's a lot of people who had heard about the contest, but surely I've made mistakes. I would like some ideas so that to all American folks could participate. The Cabrillo format used is the standard and any competitions works EA PSK31 (it's the same as EA RTTY). Re: [digitalradio] Final results to EA PSK31 CONTEST
Thanks Joaquin and co. for arranging all EA contests. They all are my favourites (EA RTTY, EA PSK31, SMR CW, SMR SSB). As an idea, how about experimenting with PSK63 as a contest mode instead of PSK31 and thus leaving the happy PSK31 chatters on their favourite frequencies (e.g. around 14070 USB) and moving thus the contesting activity a bit upwards, say between 14072-075 kHz? Would the somewhat faster tempo on PSK63 attract more hard-core RTTY contesters into this event? Just an idea. 73 de Tapani/OH2LU On Wed, 29 Apr 2009 09:23:47 +0200, EA4ZB wrote: >*Hey all:* > >*I have sent a notice of the contest to CQ USA, podx 070 club, Tara, and >several Yahoo groups (digitalradio, PSK31, 070 Club, TARA) and IARU. >It's easy and it is certain that there's a lot of people who had heard about >the contest, but surely I've made mistakes. > >I would like some ideas so that to all American folks could participate. RE: [digitalradio] Final results to EA PSK31 CONTEST
Not speaking for everyone here but it could be that the varied methods of scoring and submitting PSK contest logs may prevent some folks from submitting their logs. The SSS/CW/RTTY have been contested long enough that scoring and submitting logs has been made easier over the years. It might seem that a standard such as Cabrillo (there are some orgs that do not accept Cabrillo) and a uniform scoring structure might help increase participation in the PSK contest. By the way, if you haven't given PSK contesting a try then you should. You will be pleasantly surprised at what you can achieve. Re: [digitalradio] Final results to EA PSK31 CONTEST
A quick review of the results shows just 9 North American entrants out of 163 non-EA entries. Does this simply reflect the band conditions or illustrate a lack of interest in PSK as a contest mode ?
