Re: [slim] Status indicator for built-in vs server decoding?
the server will try to play a file with no conversion at all, ideally. if the input format doesn't match any natively supported type or if the "built-in" option has been disabled in file types, then it will look for a conversion in order of preference. For SB this is FLAC, WAV, MP3. SB1 is WAV then MP3 and slimp3 plays mp3 only. the first enabled conversion is used, seemlessly. You can check a song's file type from the songinfo page of the web UI, or the trackInfo mode in the player (press RIGHT from the track display). Native file types will always play native if they are enabled. there is no display, aside from the check boxes in server settings->file types. If your player is set for bitrate limiting, then all output is forced to mp3 at the specified bitrate. The trackinfo will show the converted rate (as "converted to xxx") in trackInfo, and the Now Playing section of the web interface will also show this. -kdf On 24-Aug-05, at 8:13 PM, kbelinski wrote: The SB2 supports native FLAC decoding. [slim] Re: SB2 Stops Responding
Just to bring some closure to this thread I did the debugging as suggested by KDF for four days and this problem never happened during that time. Then I decided I didn't need to see the temperature on the SB2 since I have a wireless thermometer in the next room, so I removed SuperDateime as my screen saver. None of the other plugins I am using query the Internet and this problem hasn't recurred, so I suppose it was something to do a flaky dialup connection. -- MeSue Sue ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Same album title, different artists
I downloaded the 8/24 nightly for 6.2. Erased my slimserversql.db file. Installed. After the rescan, the duplicate album names that I HAD listed in "common album titles" seem to be fine, with one exception: "The Hits" by REO Speedwagon is listed 6 times. This is probably because I listed song year for those that I knew. The duplicate albums titles that were NOT listed under "common album titles" are still all grouped together. Examples: "X by Various Artists" shows one album by INXS and one by Def Leppard, all mixed together. "Stand Up" shows three albums all mixed together one by Dave Matthews Band, one by Jethro Tull, and one by The Del Fuegos. Note that on once case the Album shows "Various Artists" and in the other, no artist is shown in the Album list. This goes back to my original message #1, for which there is already a bug report (1378). Do you want another bug report filed since this is still happening in 6.2? Do you still want me to upload my slimserversql.db? That might be difficult because I'm dialup and it's over 11MB, but I can queue it up before I go to bed some night if it will be helpful. -- MeSue Sue ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I've got a dlink DWL-p200 (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=332&sec=0) that I bought for my home broadband (long distance 802.11, I live in the mountains). I switched providers and no longer need it. It'll do 2.5A @ 5V, which should be fine (as noted below). $25 + USPS shipping to whoever wants it. I also have 3 DHP-100 powerline adapters for sale (http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=4). These are handy if you don't want to mess with Wi-Fi, or have issues w/ 2.4GHz interference from other sources. These are $35/ + USPS shipping. Buy all 3 and shipping's free. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that WEEI's station is now doing some sort of bizarro handshake that only WMP understands. I never thought to try to stream WEEI to an SB before. I'll have to try tonight since my radio's reception of WEEI is poor in my home. [slim] Re: Backup: REV drive or external HD?
I use a RAID1 setup on Linux. Just plug in a second HardDisk with a partition of equal size of your audio drive, and mount the pair of them as Raid1. Everything is then mirrored, and if one drive fails, I get an e-mail to tell me so. Surprisingly easy to set up too. Doesn't cover you from fire, theft or accidental deletion, but it lowers the risk of having to re-rip everything again, and if one drive does fail, it buys you a bit of time to sort it out without any downtime.
