anybody explain how to fix this? Thank you.

If you look in convert.conf for the line: 'flc flc transcode *', you'll
notice that the command line after that includes:

--skip=$START$ --until=$END$

This is how the flac files are handling the skipping of tracks. if you
wish to have this work with your APE files, you will need to have
similar command line options for the software codec that handles APE.
I do not believe that mac currently supports skipping, so you have your
work cut out for you if you want to solve this with the default
installation. if you can find another APE software codec that works,
then you could try that. The START and END parameters are substituted
at play time by the server.

[slim] Re: OT: Power line network adaptors (was: Okay, maybeit's time to call it a day...)

2005-09-24 Thread jhall_uk

Taken from http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm

These were the results:

quote
PL14 - 14Meg Homeplug adapter: 7.5Mb/s
PL85 - 85Meg Homeplug Turbo adapter: 25Mb/s
54g Wifi - 14Mb/s
end quote

Note the big difference in favour of the 85meg powerline network vs
wireless G.I would be interested to see a comparison with turbo G -
like my US Robotics 125mbps wireless connection.

You pay approx £27 in the UK for the old 14mbps units and £47 for the
faster model.

I'm sure wireless is fine for average Slimserver to SB activity -I use
a mixture of the technologies at home and with a SB2 and Slimpey, and
experience no problems piggy backing over both the wireless and
powerline network.

Once you start introducing a SB in every room, and start whacking video
data down the network to/from your living room to record/watch tv etc.
it becomes a different matter and you may find the extra
bandwith/reliability useful of either a fully CAT5 wired or 85mbps
Powerline network.

I an add up to 14 podcasts. After that if I try to add one and hit

Have reported this to Kevin Pearsall in Techsupport who is looking into

The only way to add it si to edit the preferences file and add the URL
and the name (they do in 2 separate places).

Then stop and start slimserver.

the address for the next podcast or RSS feed and click Change, nothing

These are the new URLs I tried:
podcast: http://www.cnn.com/services/podcasting/newscast/rss.xml
RSS feed: http://www.sr.se/xml_news/rss/ekonomiRSS.xml

As you can tell, I was able to add one more RSS feed after this problem

This seems to be a spurious problem, so probably a bug somewhere.

I believe the issue here is that there is no indentation. A cue should look
like:

RE: [slim] Re: Launching MusicMagic at startup

I posted about this on the Predixis forums, and one of the guys there says that
it _should_ work if you start MMM with a '-slim' parameter on startup. There
are lots of details on the site, but sadly I couldn't get it working even with
the -slim switch.

-slim means that MMM will expect SB as a player, even if it can't find SS when
starting up.

The most elegant solution (for me) remains the one posted here some time ago.
The poster provided a detailed set of instructions on how to install MMM as a
service, using AppToService by Basta software. It only costs $20, and it
works like a charm...

[slim] Remaining Time In Playlist

2005-09-24 Thread JulianL

As far as I can see, the only remaining time function that I can display
is time remaining in current track. Is this correct?

The time remaining function that I would find most valuable is time
remaining in current playlist (if I sit down to listen to an album I
want to know when the album will be finished not just the current
track). Is this possible? If not then I think it would be a really
useful enhancement. It would need to be carefully implemented at the
server level because a playlist is potentially a dynamic entity but the
server is the gatekeeper to any playlist changes so it could make the
necessary dynamic adjustments if tracks are added or deleted and
personally I would be happy if the client display was re-checked at the
end of each track to check for dynamic playlist changes.

Is this an old request (I didn't find anything from my forum searches)?
Do people think it has merit?

- Julian

I found out by experience that Unicode cue sheets, if not saved in

kbelinski,

The UTF-8 trick works like a charm. Only if I had known that earlier:)
I spent quite some time to convert many albums with unicode cue to
single track flac so they get displayed properly.
I did try before to save the cue in unicode which didn't work, didn't
think of UTF-8. Thank you so much.

Now if Dan can figure out why certain cuesheets won't get scanned. I
