Re: [slim] any recommendation for Hard Drive Enclosure
I have 5 of the Venus DS3 FIrewire/USB enclosures and have been happy with them. They work fine on my Fedora FC4 Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows boxes. It is a safe bet, I am buying them for as long as they are available. They also have a fan, which many of them don't. They stock them at Frys if you are near one. On the flip side, I advise highly against anything from "Metal Gear" http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4310395?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG What flimsy crap. The construction is shoddy, and the one I had, a spark jumped from the connector to my mac as I was trying to plugin the firewire cable. _Not_ the sort of fire I was looking for from a firewire device... I believe you can get back by erasing the Firmware subdirectory of the server and then replacing it with the 6.2.1 Firmware directory. If you hadn't modified 6.2.1 I'd just say erase the directory and then reinstall. If it were me, I'd install 6.2.1 someplace else so I could grab the firmware directory. First, to have multidiscs sets grouped together as a single album for browsing, go to into Server Settings, Behavior, and find the 'GROUP DISCS' setting. Set it to: 'Treat multi-disc sets as a single album' You'll need to tag your files with a DISCNUMBER tag, then the disc and track order will be correct. But playing single discs within a multidisc album can be problematic. When you organize the discs so that a multidisc album is treated as one (which most people will want), then you lose the ability to easily play a whole, single disc within the set. You can either play every single track on all discs, or else you have to add individual tracks from the desired disc one at a time. [slim] Re: Multiple CD images into one album, how?
Make sure you set a couple of the tags correctly: Album should be identical. No (disc 2) type tags. Add in a DISCNUMBER tag (assuming FLAC, it's TPOS on mp3) that has the disc number... this will keep the display sorted correctly (ie, so you can have two track 1's: the discnumber will distinguish them). In cases where I merge multi-disc sets into one Album, I also make sure I rename the files to 1-01, 1-02.. 2-01, etc. This keeps them sorted in the Browse Music Folder and keeps my sanity when just looking at the files outside of something that reads tags. The other alternative is to cheat completely: set the album name to be identical and number the tracks consecutively across albums. Ie, the 2nd disc may start at track 17. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Year tags becoming corrupted :(
A while ago, I spent ages updating all my tags to include year. In fact, more than that, I spent bl00dy ages going through each "Best of" style complication, and setting each individual track to the correct date of release. Beginning to see some corruption in my tags though - SB is supposed to display the year at the end of the track, or display nothing if no data exists. But several tracks are popping up that show a year of "(0)". I've checked these tags, and all data seems to be correct - it's just that SB (or SS) is reading them wrong (or something). I recently upgraded to SS 6.2.2. I also recently installed MoodLogic. I also upgraded all other plugins at same time. I've tried a complete delete/rescan of the library from within SS. The only thing I've not yet tried is physically deleting the library from my hard-drive and letting SS properly rebuild it. Anyone got any ideas why the year data is beginning to get lost? It almost seems like it's getting worse - I barely noticed it at all the other day (so I thought I'd just missed a tag or something). Now I'm seeing it all over the place :( -- gutted http://www.last.fm/user/gutt3d/ Slimserver 6.2.2 +MusicIP Mixer 1.6b2 +MoodLogic 2.7.1.18 +AlienBBC 1.02a +Slimscrobbler 0.34 Windows 2000 Professional sp4 Intel Celeron 1.4GHz 512MB RAM Squeezebox 1 wireless (Player Firmware Version: 40) Library of approx 6300 MP3s gutted's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=147 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24248 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

dave w - you're definitely not alone on this one. I too have a 2800g/sb3 both with the latest firmware. Much the same as yourself I have the same symtoms, ie constant association/disassociation from the router, with or without WEP. They have the 3rd level support person involved from Taiwan but hasn't been much help at the moment, response: > Could the SqueezeBox connect to other APs or other Vigor Router > (e.g.2600G)? I got the deb of the 12.17.9 sox version from the Debian web site and installed it with dpkg -i. Problem solved! Oggs now play perfectly. Thanks for the pointers. I have this problem too. I'm running on Ubuntu 5.10, and apt-get only seems to offer 12.17.7-2. Anyone know where I can find a deb or source for the newer sox? [slim] No Sound from the Squeezebox
Hi all, I've just set up my first Squeezebox, and after some trial and error, got it wirelessly connected. But: Although it is completely connected, and the equaliser animation plays correctly (when compared to a linked softsqueeze), no sound is coming out. This is both through the red/white and headphone connectors. Found this http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24075 , so I've emailed tach support. Just want to see if anyone has any suggestions. [slim] Re: SlimServer 6.2.2 horror - move to beta or back to 6.2.1?
Thanks, after several un/reinstalls I've managed to get 6.5 working - however I've still got my original problem which caused me to upgrade in the first place . . . SlimServer isn't picking up any of my iTunes playlists. -- jodrell jodrell's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4425 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23886 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
