[slim] Where/How to edit Profile and Signature?

I cant seem to go into some areas of my user CP and a message comes up

[slim] How To Stream Whats Playing?

2009-05-09 Thread BigBirdy

I was wondering if it were possible, maybe a plugin or something, where
I could have a link to a web page that people could click open and
hear/stream what I am playing? Is this even possible? For instance, I
already have a small Joomla module which shows what I am playing, album
art, bit rate etc through weblogger. But it would be great if people
could also "hear" what I am playing in real time?

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] iPeng 1.1 now on the AppStore

2009-05-09 Thread pippin

The iPeng 1.1.1 update is available on the AppStore since yesterday.

1.1.1 is mainly a service release targeted at fixing some issues with
wakeup from standby and crashes upon rearranging/deleting tracks from
the current playlist.

It does have two additional features, though:

- IRBlaster volume control: If you set volume control commands for
IRBlaster for a player, iPeng's volume slider for that player will be
replaced by "up/down" buttons that send volume up/down commands through
IRBlaster. These commands will repeat at a rate of 5 commands/s
NOTE: If you disable IRBlaster, please also remove the volume commands
for the player since iPeng detects IRBlaster using these settings and
will otherwise still show the IRBlaster interface instead of the
slider.

- Albums and Playlists in Music Services like Rhapsody or Napster will
now be shown and act like albums and playlists do in the local library.
This means: You don't need the "hold" gesture anymore to play tracks
and also album/playlist playing behavior and look is now consistent with
the local library menus.

Have you tried the handheld skin?

The big problem with most mobile devices is that their browsers are not
very powerful, especially when it comes to JavaScript.
And SC is very slow on serving up large pages of HTML content on some
platforms so using non-JS pages is also not very slick.

If you can get hold of an iThingy with iPeng compare the iPeng plugin
with the iPeng App and you know why people want applications - and the
Mobile Safari is among the faster browsers!

[slim] Nonflac files being skipped after a few secs

2009-05-09 Thread atici

I have a substantial number of mpc (musepack) files and after I updated
to 7.3 this is what happens: I choose an album, it plays the first track
for 1 sec and skips to the next one, then it plays second track for 1
sec and skips, but then the third track plays fine. After the third
track is played to completion this problem is repeated. This is not
always the third track but it can't play the first few tracks after each
properly played track.

FLAC albums play with no issues.

These mpc files are not corrupt and this happens with any mpc encoded
album. I see a lot of instances of socketwrapper.exe on my computer (for
every skipped file). I tried with 7.4 night builds but I still have the
same problem.

Thanks for the help!

I don't know enough to be able to read the logs but I suspect you have
problems with permissions. I would suggest running a program to verify
and correct permissions as well as clean caches. My favorite is Onyx.
It's free and you can get it at www.download.com After the initial

[slim] Squeezeplay stopped working...?

2009-05-09 Thread pablolie

I run SC 7.3.2 on WinVistaPro 64 bit - and it's always been rock stable.
I had not run Squeezeplay for a while though, and upn trying to open it
today, I get a nigfty report telling me that
"jive has stopped working" - and that is that.
Anyone has any pointers as to what could have caused this? I
reinstalled SP from the 7.3.3 folder, and it's the same thing.
Thanks!

sorry, was a bit confused by your original post that you actually wanted
the audio to output from the PC.

bephillips gave spot on advice. If you don't want digital out, my
expectation is that running squeezeplay is going to be an easier
solution for you. Then you can control the flow of music out the
speakers through either the squeezeplay interface or with the browser
interface.

Thank you, I will look at that now. Here is my set up.

Squeezebox Classic, Current Software version, MacBookPro, 1TB World
Edition NAS HD with an additional 1TB Slave Drive connected via USB 2.0
through the expansion port. The 1TB Main drive is connected via Ethernet
to my FIOS Wireless G router. I am logged into the HD as the ADMIN so it
should have permission to access everything.

The SlimServer sees the path to the drive and it is mapped correctly. I
have let the scanner run to times now. (Overnight) For over 9 hours each
time and no progress shows in the settings feature. My music library is
quite large 500GB plus but should it take longer than 9 hours to scan
it?

Again, thank you so much for the assistance. I appreciate it.

Re: [slim] Assistance Please / Scanner not Scanning Network Hard Drive

2009-05-09 Thread Siduhe

Have a look at the scanner.log file (there is a link to it via the web
interface - Settings/Information about halfway down the page). Start a
scan and watch the log file - what error messages do you see? Post a
chunk up here and that should enable someone to tell you what's going
on.

It could be a file permissions issue - SC needs read access to the
files on the hard drive and if you've just transferred them over from
your previous drive, they may need to be reset.

ESPECIALLY not an iphone. I consider phones disposable now. I will sync
my contacts to the touch - have a few major ones on the phone, and carry
both while on the road. That way when this $35 Samsung dies as phones
inevitably do, it's not a zillion dollar proposition. I don't really
want a phone remote anymore - but the touch is sweet.

This is now an official hijack. Return to normal programming at your

That setting isn't available for a Receiver!
You need to run a Server & Network Health test... in SC, click on the

Re: [slim] Stuttering/pauses during playback from local network

2009-05-09 Thread ziphnor

Thank you for the response.

The player is connected to the Wifi accesspoint in my router, the
server is an Athlon64 3000+ with 1.5gb memory connected via 100mbps
wired network to the router.

Currently the signal strength reads as 73-76% for the player, which i
guess should be fine?

>From the link you give there is a mention of enabling display of buffer
fullness:
"Go to Player Settings - Now Playing Information and set "Include
buffer fullness in Playing Display Mode list:" to Enabled".

However i cannot find this option anywhere in the squeezecenters
settings.

I am planning to switch to wired networking anyway since i already have
a network cable connected to my HTPC, all i need is a switch. However,
before i do so i would like to be certain that the problem really is the
wifi.

Re: [slim] Is there a simple way to adjust L/R balance on Squeezebox?

2009-05-09 Thread Phil Leigh

It wont be "easy" but couldn't SOX be used to implement both a mono and
a balance function?

Re: [slim] Can PDA with WiFi function act as remote?

2009-05-09 Thread Dingostrategy

Bit of a bump. I used to use telcanto on a HTC phone. It did the job but
was not that fantastic. I also used the web interface as described here
but but the time you fiddle about with it all, quicker to get up off the
chair, find the remote, and change - or go to the server and do it
there.

Now I got an iPod touch and iPeng and threw the HTC in a sewer because
it was a piece of junk. I am never buying a phone worth more than $50
again.

The traveling life: incompatible with high-end audio.

Lounge: SB3 + AE2
Kitchen: SB3 + $80 bookshelf stereo. Top shelf gear.

+ a boom now ordered + iPod touch/iPeng + a storage shed 'back home in
Australia' with my proper, retro setup :(
