Re: [slim] A rant towards a rescue. Needed. NOW. ... From here to where?
Having read the comments made in this thread I'm inclined to agree with the spirit of the intial post. I'll repeat what I posted in the beta forum a while back: Looking at the 8.0/1 roadmap I don't see the software making any significant functional strides. It seems to me that there are two things happening: - catering for implementation on embedded systems - tinkering at the edges of existing functionality to address bugs/ tweak features etc. All told, when the above is achieved, we're going to have more or less exactly what we have today in functional terms, except plugin developers whose plugins interact with the db are being forced to move support to a different db layer (that is if they want their plugins to continue to operate). The technological aspect of the Squeezebox offering is no longer a differentiator. The biggest opportunity that's being squandered here is that of content, allowing users to interact with their music collections in ways that are meaningful to them. Someone else is going to do it and that'll herald sunset for the SB line. No doubt many at Logitech don't want to hear the above, but I genuinely think that is where things are headed. The hardware offerings are continually being expanded but the front end remains pretty much what it is today. Whilst it's good, I don't see it evolving. Folks on the Logitech development team would do well to take a look at products like Qsonix to get some ideas of what shape meaningful interaction with one's music might take. If Logitech is patently disinterested in taking SC in that sort of direction then at least publish a comprehensive roadmap and finalise the database structure so that adding 3rd party functionality doesn't become a lifetime maintenance project. -- egd '*Transporter*' (http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/products/transporter.html) '*SCA2*' (http://www.atc.gb.net/sca2.htm) '*SCM100SL AT*' (http://www.atc.gb.net/scm100slat.htm). Re: [slim] DSBridge - A simpler way to stream Spotify
Edit:The wavinput pluggin, how does it work?It uses wav. The wavinput plugin will work with Spotify although as SPotify meses with audio, I believe it is a bit picky about how you start WavINput and Spotify. WaveInput makes a copy of the PCM output from Windows audio subsystem using ther What U hear or similar feature of audio driver which means if the Windows mangles/enhances/upsamples the audio - you get a copy of the mangled/ehancmed/upsampled audio. DeSpotify should be able to deliver a PCM which could be handled by the wavin2cmd.exe app and so feed the PCM directly into SC without any encoding - the only drawback is Spotify will have to play on same PC as SC. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64590 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It certainly -can- connect to squeezecenter, and plays as expected once connected, but it doesn't always connect automatically. In particular if I power up the computer and receiver at the same time (from the same power switch), the receiver finishes booting before squeezecenter has started. The receiver remains stuck on the blue light, which means waiting to connect to a music source. I can force it to connect by power cycling it (after squeezecenter is fully booted), or using Net:UDAP to reset it. But surely there must be a better way. What am I missing? Just bought one for the 1000 on ebay -- has the same ID # so should work. Logitech customer support on this issue has been lousy. Emailed customer support after 3 weeks passing after order, was told my CC didn't work. Knew this was wrong, so I called, and find out they're out of stock. Re: [slim] Musicip quit working...What to check?
Hmmm, that's odd. I've experienced a situation where I would have an empty mix generated. I stopped SC and MiP and restarted them and the problem went away. According to the documentation, it is important that the MiP service start before SC. Do you have your machine configured this way through a service dependency? To see if this is the issue, you could manually stop both services and manually start each one - MiP first and SC second - and see what happens. MC Thx for the feedback but I guess the print pagination hasn't been tested. Print pagination does noting when the catalog is only viewed in IE. However the use is limited this way as it is not portable as album art will most often not work when the catalog is opened on another computer. Put creating a PDF file, by printing to a PDF printer will use print pagination as PDF's are made up out of papers. ACC inserts new page seperators to correctly end a page. If AC wouldn't do that the page will often break half-way cover art and track listings. So with a greater track listing font the print pagination setting most certainly must be adjusted to account for the greater line spacing of the larger font. Please perform a print preview and see how the pages are formatted.
