[slim] Browsing the Music Folder
Hello, I have a question regarding the browse Music Folder option. What I would like to be able to do, is keep an "Unsorted" folder within the Music Folder as a placeholder for files which I would like to browse and listen to, but NOT have them automatically added to the library. I find that incredibly annoying as it pollutes the library with clutter. I'd prefer to keep the library for albums which I have nicely ripped and sorted, and not have it filled with random entries created by browsing folders. Is there anything I can do, or is this going to be a feature request? I'm a SB Duet user running SC on a QNAP109II Many Thanks! Thanks, I'll try it tonight. While the slider is pretty, it might be nice to just keep it easy and have just an input box. Or keep the slider as well, but let the input box override the slider - so if the slider only goes to 90 and then I type in 120, it stays with 120. Re: [slim] Setting up iTunes a little differently - multiple libraries?
Not direct answer to your problem (let me also say that I hate iTunes and only use it because I love the iPhone and have to), but would it be easier to maintain two separate libraries? That is what I so. I rip all my songs to FLAC. Then the songs I want on my iPhone, I rip to MP3. I also only back up my FLAC library. If I lose any MP3s, all I have to do is reconvert them from the FLAC files (knock on wood, this hasn't happened but it would not be that big of a deal). The other thing I like about this is that if iTunes screws with tags or artwork which is known to do from time to time, I just fix the songs from the FLAC Masters. Its what I call a safe from iTunes library. For others thinking about this but just starting, the Vortexbox is great for handling this. It rips a FLAC copy and also converts and stores an MP3 copy at the same time. -- iPhone *iPhone* Media Room: Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1 Living Room: Duet, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Kitchen: Squeezebox BOOM Bedroom: Second Boom Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Ford Thunderbird: Duet, Mac Mini Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67886 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Setting up iTunes a little differently - multiple libraries?
I have the same issue. Here is my solution: I have a single iTunes library with lossless and lower bitrate tracks in it. All of the lossless tracks are checked; the lower bitrate tracks are unchecked (unless I don't have lossless versions). In Squeezecentre settings, iTunes tab, I select the option to ignore checked songs. That way Squeezecentre just picks up the highest quality version of each track. Then to make sure the smallest version of each track goes onto my iPod, I create smart playlists that only pick up songs with a bitrate below a certain threshold (if your lossy tracks are at 256, just put something less than 400), and sync those with my iPod. It works pretty well. Also, since I'm on OS X, if I get a new CD, I have an Automator action that automates the import - imports lossless, creates a lower bitrate version and unchecks the latter. The only issue is that you don't get play counts synchronised properly - but that's a pain with iTunes / Squeezecentre integration anyway. Hope this helps. Hi Sebastian, The main graphics screen is good, but some of the setup screens have no scroll bar to the right, so I can't reach the bottom selections. My PDA has a small keyboard and shows a small bar at the bottom for the touch keyboard selection that shows up when I'm in the setup screens. If you are expecting the build and quality of a $1000 amp for $250, then the Amp100 is not going to be the amp. The Zamp V.3 is a killer amp for the price. Well built and quality sound for the money. Re: [slim] [ANN] Squeemote 1.2, now with device sync!
Hi there, I just purchased the Squeemote application for my Ipod Touch and I must admit that I am very happy with it. It works great! I do love it! Having said that I hope someone can help me out with the following questions: -Does anyone know if it is possible to connect to SqueezeNetwork with Squeemote? I only managed to connect to Squuezecenter through my laptop. -I have noticed that after selecting a track in the Squeemote menu, I am used to getting a window with 3 options (Add to Playlist , Replace Playlist and Cancel). Is there any way to play a track straight away without getting that window all the times? Many thanks in advance for your help. Aha it not a separate wifi card as most of the older designs ? The chip is actually soldered to the board ? They could be N compatible who knows, if it is a never chipset, could be a selling point for the chip manufacturer to have it that way. Anyway it would not bother me much, your are going to offload the wifi a lot when your computers are moving to N. The range and reliability improved. In any design, experience helps build better products and also compromises are made to meet price points. The latest generation of wireless routers (i.e. n) have a much bigger potential customer base than the g routers so different design choices can be made. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67882 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I don't know about the theory of why it can or cannot improve performance. I do however know that the three times I have replaced on G class boxes with N class it has more than doubled the effective range (and also lead to more reliable streaming at close range). That is with three different models of G class and three different models of N class. Maybe it is nothing to do with the N/G and just that the Ns were more recently designed and therefore took advantage of experience gained ? -- andynormancx Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Re: [slim] RTSP, why not ?
Telling a consumer how easy it is for a radio station can reconfigure their server software doesn't really help the consumer much. Sure the station might respond; but if it works for most of the stations listeners using standard PC clients it might not be much of a priority for the station. It should be a high priority for the manufacturer of a NMP to ensure compatability with as many music sources as possible. -- jdoering jdoering's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17482 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67820 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
