Re: [slim] Licenses Agrrement for SqueezeBox-Server

2010-03-29 Thread erland

If you want to use the standard SBS software, I'd do as Michael
suggests, just download it automatically from Logitech at installation
or first startup.

However, if you want to customize it you have two options:
1. Contact Logitech to get permissions
OR
2. If you are only supporting OSX/Linux, download the standard software
automatically as described above and apply a patch with your
customizations afterwards.

Unfortunately option 2 won't work on Windows if you like to patch the
perl code since it's compiled to a executable which can't easily be
patched.

[slim] Problem with daylight saving and mailinglist gateway

2010-03-29 Thread erland

There seems to be some problem with the mailinglist gateway and daylight
saving. Posts initiated by mail has a time stamp in the forum that's one
hour too late.

I've seen several examples this morning where I've seen Michael's posts
(posted via mail) and then added my own answer (via forum) and my answer
appears before Michel's in the forum thread.

[slim] Cant find my music

2010-03-29 Thread nimnul

Hi all,

Ive been running SB for a couple of years with great result.

First my collection was on my local PC as was the server. Then I moved
my music on a NAS as the collection grew. This has all been running
fine.

I run a win7 pc and a Promise NS4300 NAS. A week ago with no apparent
change the system stopped finding the music, the scan now takes 2sec
with zero result. I can browse to the folder on the NAS with all my PCs
2 win7 and 2 XP, both wired and wifi.

No settings changed at NAS

Any clues

Sounds like something is very wrong. I'd contact support or return it.

Why was there no remote from the seller?

There are retail demonstration/display SB3's that get sold as used
SB3's. These units are not upgradable or usable beyond a basic pre

I've had both and used both. I prefer the iPod touch or iTouch. The

The iPeng app for the iTouch is excellent.

Re: [slim] Squeezecenter Remote vs ITouch

2010-03-29 Thread Bert57

Agree! Itouch is my pick. Have the duet and itouch. The itouch with
the larger screen makes it so much easier to read. I use album review
and biography a lot and reading on the duet is just to small and the
scroll with the wheel is a bit awkward compared to just running your
finger down the screen.
Itouch seems to have all the functionality of the duet + can check
email, search the web, and have your favorite music with you at all
times.

The iPeng app isn't free, I think it's $9.99 or something similar but
it's worth every cent and it's still cheaper than a Controller.

I think you need iTunes to activate the iPod Touch initially but after
that you won't need it unless you also plan to use the iPod Touch as a
portable music player. In that case, you will also need to use iTunes
to copy music files to the iPod Touch.

The iPeng App doesn't require anything to be installed on your
Squeezebox Server and it will also work towards MySB.com if you use
that. In the same way as the Squeezebox Controller it can be enhanced
with more functionality by installing third party plugins on the
Squeezebox Server.

I have the ipeng icon in the bottom bar so it is always on screen no
matter how many apps you have. It then takes about 2 seconds before you
can control your device. Really cool thing is that setting up ipeng the
first time takes about 10 seconds. It automatically discovers your
squeezeboxserver. I have got the sb controller as well, but now with my
iPhone I rarely use it anymore. Screen size and screen quality and
general usability are miles ahead. I'm really sorry for the controller
in a way because I've had my fun with it but it is just no comparison
with ipeng.

[slim] What is the new way to change music source?

I control a couple SB3 players with a duet remote control
I also use the supplied IR controllers a lot when in the same room. I
guess that is why I'm just noticing this...

How the %*## does one change the music source from Squeezebox Server
and squeezebox.com using the duet remote controller? There used to be
an option down in settings called Music Source or something
similar... it's not there now.

I can do this in 2 secs with the IR remote (in front of the player) but
how do I do it via the Duet remote controller?

No, there are no options for doing this. To change the web interface you
would have to edit the code (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) yourself.

In addition to the Audiophiles forum, you could just search for
Transporter or TP.

Why was there no remote from the seller?

There are retail demonstration/display SB3's that get sold as used
SB3's. These units are not upgradable or usable beyond a basic pre
 programmed demonstration mode.

NO I have the remote.but my SB3 is two hand goods.

Re: [slim] What is the new way to change music source?

2010-03-29 Thread propup

Under my Switch Library option I am only showing two Squeezebox Servers
- my real server (win2k server running the server) and my Infrant NAS
which I thought was no longer running the streaming service for
Squeezebox Server.
There is nothing else there.

I checked the NAS - the SB Server option was was unchecked, but was
installed so I just uninstalled it and am rebooting the NAS.

I'll check again after reboot but it seems like I may have something
else configured wrong.

What am I supposed to see as the squeezebox.com option / name?

I normally access the forums using an https address

the server only seems to accept plain old http now.

Yep - would never have looked there. I guess it sort of makes sense,
but IMO not too intuitive to put the option there.

Thank you very much for the help

At one time, the philosophy was that any settings likely to be changed
less often than once per day (or something like that) should be down
under advanced. In that case, I guess it makes sense.

check that the mac address of the sb matches the sticker on the bottom
and that there is no ip address conflict between your modem and the sb
