iPeng will work but it will be small on the big screen unless you
double size it and then it looks pixelated.

OK,

Joggler on its way, 'joggler_unr_9.10_v1.3a.bin.tar.gz' downloaded, 4GB
USB key at the ready...

How do I 'burn' the image from a W7 PC (never used linux, and no linux
boxes available to me), and then how do I get the Joggler to boot from
it? Finally, once the Joggler has booted into ubuntu, do I just install
SqueezePlay onto it as normal?

Many thanks,

casual Clock Radio type of device but worth buying a Touch if the sound
 quality is important.
I wondered about this. In theory attaching a decent-quality USB audio
interface could resolve this issue, but obviously it becomes a
less-cheap alternative to a Touch.

Re: [slim] Can I vent?

2010-05-19 Thread m1abrams

I have an SB1, Duet, Radio, and a Touch. They have all work great for
me without much issue. The Sb1 has given me some issue in that it does
not like to reconnect to the server when it loses connection and I have
to power cycle it, but the other 3 have work flawlessly for me.

My only real complaint is the Alarm interface on the Radio could be
better, particularly with how it handles snooze. It should not be easy
to mix snooze and alarm off, in fact alarm OFF should be a difficult
thing to hit.

But for the act of listening to music easily whenever and syncing, I
love em.

FYI - I have an ~8000 track FLAC collection and even use wireless for
the radio and duet.

Yes you need to keep it plugged in. If you're not using wireless it is
possible to take the joggler apart and insert the usb stick internally
where the wireless card currently is. There is a video on YouTube
somewhere (don't have the link handy) showing how easy it is to to do
this. Another alternative that some people are using is a micro SDHC
card in a SDHC-USB adapter which doesn't stick out too much.

Someone makes a clock radio that rolls around (off the table and under

Not right - if the player does not support AAC+ - an AAC/AAC+ will not

quality/encosing option within AAC+ which are used depending on bit
rate. In practive, this means above a specific bit rate usually the
AAC+ options are not used and the stream is just AAC.

[slim] Transcode MP3 Stream to MP3?

2010-05-19 Thread plympton

I've got a problematic stream, as documented here:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78826

I can't figure it out - I've tried. What I'd like to try is to force
convert the problematic stream to a higher-bitrate stream (64k, 128k,
etc) that I know the squeezeboxes like.

I've looked at this file *convert.conf* and want to create a
*custom_convert.conf* file, but am a bit confused by this passage:

 # special case for smart bitrates on mp3 input
 mp3 mp3 transcode *
   # IFB:{BITRATE=-B %B}D:{RESAMPLE=--resample %D}
   [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ -v $BITRATE$ $RESAMPLE$ --mp3input $FILE$
 -

 ...

 # This example transcodes MP3s to MP3s, if the target machine has the
 # given MAC address. This rule will take precedence over the
 # previous rule because it's more specific.
 #mp3 mp3 squeezebox 00:02:dd:34:e9:62
 # ./brute_filter $FILE$ -

I'm not sure how to deal with this. Any help -- thanks!

Ideally, I'd like to take any .mp3 stream that's in certain paramenters
(64kbit or 44.1 kHz) and transcode them to 128kbit 44.1 kHz streams,
or something to that like.

Thanks!
-Dan

2010-05-19 Thread plympton

I've tried this, but it marks both MP3 and FLAC as Disabled, and
greyed out - can't select it.

I've even commented out the native mp3 mp3 * * in convert.conf, and it
doesn't work.

Is the server just not liking the mp3 - mp3 thing?
Does it matter that it's a stream and not a file, too? (that's a side
question, as I see no reference to $URL in the code, I assume that it
treats $FILE and $URL as the same thing nowadays)

 mp3 mp3 * *
   # IFB:{BITRATE=-B %B}D:{RESAMPLE=--resample %D}
   [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ $RESAMPLE$ -v $BITRATE$ $FILE$ -

 # FLAC output starts here

 mp3 flc * *
   [lame] --mp3input --decode -t --silent $FILE$ - | [flac] -cs
 --totally-silent --compression-level-0 -

 # special case for smart bitrates on mp3 input
 #mp3 mp3 * *
 # # IFB:{BITRATE=-B %B}D:{RESAMPLE=--resample %D}
 # [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$ -v $BITRATE$ $RESAMPLE$ --mp3input
 $FILE$ -

 # This example transcodes MP3s to MP3s, if the target machine has the

I have the same issue with KUOW, the local Seattle NPR station. I've
found the that problem only occurs on the high-quality MP3 stream.
If I use the low quality 64kbps MP3 stream, it works fine even when

Does OPB have a low quality stream? It might be worth trying if you can
live with lower quality. For voice and casual listening I find the

YEAH YOU HAVE THE PROBLEM, TOO! :-)

Do you ONLY have the problem when it's the high-quality stream, *AND*
you sync a Touch to anything? Do you get the problem with just the
Touch (or just an SB3)?

They appear to have a high and low quality stream, except I can't tune
to them reliably - no matter what URL I give it, it still sends me the
same stream. I'm assuming there's some kind of handshaking going on.

Unfortunately, the regular quality stream is the one that the Touch
doesn't like. :-(.

Re: [slim] OPB.org stream keeps rebuffering?

2010-05-19 Thread BigPotato

SB3 on its own works.
Touch on its own works.
Radio on its own works.
SB3 + SB3 works.
SB3 + Touch fails.
SB3 + Radio fails.
Touch + Radio fails.

Looks like syncing with any Squeezeplay based device in the mix doesn't
work.

This is with 7.5.1.

The problematic stream is at http://128.208.34.80:8002/

Re: [slim] Nokia 770 Skin

2010-05-19 Thread Nicoleto

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=19369

Question: Do you have a 770?

- Got it
- Want it
- Need it
- Forget it

Not sure if this skin is still being supported. However, I'm having some
trouble when listening to a radio station, the controls from the status
screen get slow or non-responsive. There is a constant ajax request
that jams the webserver. You can see this by opening the activity
window of a safari browser.

This whole situation does not occur when listening to a local audio
file, just when listening streamed internet radio stations.

Any ideas?

Nick

Re: [slim] Announce: New Squeezeslave 0.9 Release available on sourceforge

2010-05-19 Thread HiroPro

Hi ralphy...

Thank you so much for you hard work on squeezeslave.

Currently I'm using the WASPI build on Win7 x64. So far so good but one
thing. When I'm using it I believe it's running in exclusive mode so I
can't have another application use the sound card. How do I set this
via runtime switches? I wish to be able to use it and also watch say
youtube.com without shutting it down. Is this possible with the WASPI
version or does in run in exclusive mode only.
