I'd suggest deleting the --enable-shared=no after the -lpthread -lm on
line 106. That option is only recognized by configure not gcc/ld.
Otherwise the makefile looks okay.

Have you run a 'make -f makefilename realclean' before running make -f

If not, you could have an old intel version of libportaudio.a from a
previous build.

[slim] Rhapsody My Library Weirdness

2010-07-26 Thread ajkidle

I'm having an issue with Rhapsody, wondering if I'm alone. There are
several albums that I can only view in My Library when I use their
Windows client software (which I have no interest in using.) They
don't appear in My Library when I browse via Squeezebox, their iPhone
app, or the web based interface (tried Safari on OSX and IE7 on
WinXP.)

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? I've been going back and forth
with their tech support, no solution yet.

If anyone is willing to test to see if it's a global issue or something
specific to my account, one album that exhibits this behavior is Not As
Far by Three Legged Fox.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2010-07-26 Thread ccdalla

Chalk up another happy user- was having some beers with a buddy (whom I
turned on to the Squeezebox about a year ago, and who also has an iPad)
a few days ago, and we were both musing about what a great controller
the iPad would make...decided, on a whim, to do a search yesterday, and
bam, there you were.

I'm also gratified to see that all the things I can see as shortcomings
have already been addressed by others (so I know I'm not just a whiner),
but I'll enumerate them here just so you'll see them as votes for the
individual issues- and apologies if some of this stuff is already in: I
didn't have a lot of time to play with it yesterday.

-Cached artist/album info. For me, music is about instant
gratification. This was the feature that got my vote for next big
feature.

-Playlist management. If I weren't as big on instant gratification as
I am, this would've gotten my vote. Something nice would be + and +
next buttons on each individual track and album displayed (without
having to bring up a context menu) to quickly add to the end of the
playlist or force them to play next. Also, having an option to force a
context menu to come up if a song is already playing when a track/album
is just tapped would be great: I don't know how many times I've killed
off a song I was playing because I absentmindedly just clicked the
center button on the controller. Another thing that would be huge
would be a small window in one corner that shows a view into the next
maybe 3 or 5 tracks on the playlist as well as the total number of
tracks.

-alphabet slider for scrolling through artist/album list- as others
have already pointed out, swiping through to S in a big collection
can be tiresome at best. I find the one that's used on the
TouchTunes jukeboxes commonly found in bars here in the U.S. to be
very good. For that matter, their entire UI (including their search
mechanism) is pretty good, since it's engineered to allow drunk people
to find the music they want- if you don't know how their UI works, but
would like to, shoot me an email at ccdalla at technologist dot com and
I'll see what I can do.

-Cover flow. As UIs go, I'd found that the notion of cover flow is
more polarizing than most others- some people just deal with it
intuitively, but others just hate it. Me, I think it's got its time
and its place, so it should be something that can be brought up on
demand.

Again, well done- as this application evolves, I can see it being
something that induces me to buying another iPad to dedicate to this
function.

-c

Hi ccdalla - good to hear about a happy user :D. This makes me work even
harder on the next releases !
Don't forget to vote in iTunes as well (after the next update comes
out) to spread the word.

As you can see two of your top points (caching + playlist) management
are on the todo list already and are done in order of the priorities
from my poll (http://www.infoq.com/articles/scrum-management-deemer).
Currently looks like playlist management comes first, but Caching is
still in the Top4 :D

Your alphabet slider is finished for over two weeks now - and I'm
gnawing my teeth that the next update is still Waiting for Review
from Apple. Hope it will go through finally this week and the world
will be happier again as such a simple feature really makes the App
MUCH better.

Re: [slim] Announce: New Squeezeslave 0.9 Release available on sourceforge

2010-07-26 Thread ralphy

Looks like the makefile doesn't delete these files using realclean

After running make -f makefilename realcean run this find command. If
you get a listing similiar to mine. That's the problem.

squeezeslave$ find . -name '*\.o'
./lib/portaudio/pa_unix_oss/pa_unix.o
./lib/portaudio/pa_unix_oss/pa_unix_oss.o
./lib/portaudio/pablio/ringbuffer.o
./lib/portaudio/pa_common/pa_lib.o
./lib/portaudio/pa_common/pa_convert.o

Run
squeezeslave$ find . -name '*\.o' -exec rm {} \;
and then again
squeezeslave$ find . -name '*\.o'

If no files are listed now run a full make.

Also you only needed to delete the one --enable-shared=no on line 106.
I would suggest that you put them back.

If it works, let me know and I'll fix the mipsel makefile. It was
contributed so I haven't used it myself.

2010-07-26 Thread bluegaspode

However when going into Napster it will search tracks but when you try

A similar issue was reported for Spotify menus which I fixed yesterday.
Currently I'm trying to get a Beta-Built to erland to have verified that
it is fixed. Not very easy to install an App outside the AppStore
though, we are still struggling.

I think this could also fix the Napster issues.
If we want this verified, please enable the 'network.cometd'-debug-log
on your server, navigate to the menu and then send the log to
bluegaspode at gmail dot com. I can then check if its based on the same
issue (or if I can fix it if its a differnt issue).

 Does Squeezepad support UserId/Password protection?
The version currently available on the App Store does not.
But this issue was fixed yesterday locally so will come with the 'next'
update.

Timeline I think is as follows:
Currently v1.2.0 bringing context-menus (and other stuff) is waiting
for review on the App Store. Hope this will be finished this week and
pushed to the App-Store by Apple.
As soon as this is done I'll submit a bugfix release (v1.2.1) to Apple
(can't submit two things at the same time, so I have to wait for the
current review to finish). Apple then will need about 10days to do a
review again.

So from these facts I'd say that around 11th of August the AppStore
will have the version supporting server authentication and will have
fixed Napster/Spotify menus.
Its very daunting that this has to be this long :( - but we are all
slaves of Apple here.

I have the same problem although I haven't called support. I'll add an

Sometimes a CD I have already added some time ago will disappear from
SBS although it will show in the Rhapsody client. My playlists, which I
create using the Rhapsody client, will still contain tracks from CD's
that have disappeared from SBS, and the tracks will still play. I just
assumed that it was an SBS problem and didn't feel like trying to

browsing via the web interface -- so I suspect SBS won't see it, nor
will it appear on the iPhone app. Agreed that if this were SBS only,
there would be no hope of getting Rhapsody's support to help. (Not
sure they know what a Squeezebox is.) But this seems to be way bigger
than just the interface with SBS; I plan to keep bugging support for a

[slim] Rhapsody Playlists missing album artwork

I currently have two Squeezebox radios, a squeezebox duet controller, a
squeezebox touch and the ipeng app for my ipod touch. I exclusively use
mysqueezebox.com and don't have the server installed on my computer. I
have several playlists on Rhapsody that I have created. These playlist
play fine, but when playing less than a quarter of the songs include any
album artwork or any song information and it's totally random which
songs include artwork and song information. I realize I might not be
explaining this properly, but I was curious if anyone else has

On the Settings Screen go to 'Advanced'(top row), there is a combobox

As I've understood, the issue isn't that you get a different IP
address, the issue is that you aren't able to retrieve an IP address
from the DHCP server. Due to this, I suspect it probably doesn't help
to configure a fixed IP in the router, the Squeezebox would still not
be able to communicate with the DHCP server to get it.

Re: [slim] Rhapsody My Library Weirdness

2010-07-26 Thread ajkidle

Did it show up in new music? It does for me which is why I think it's a
 SBS problem.

Yes, it did. And the other albums I've been having trouble with showed
up there too. Also, most of the albums I have this problem with also
show up when you view My Library by album, instead of by artist.
Problem is that I only browse music by artist.

I would agree this is an SBS issue, except that it plagues the Rhapsody
web interface too. And the iPhone app. All 3 seem to be perfectly in
sync. And most albums can be added to My Library without this issue.
I still tend to blame Rhapsody.

Does anyone know how this stuff works behind the scenes? Is Rhapsody
passing bad data to SBS?

Re: [slim] What's the best remote device moving forward?

2010-07-26 Thread mdv

This tablet seems pretty good to me for $150 or so. I installed the
Panda launcher with volume button hack and it is working pretty well.
I guess the latest firmware improves the Wi-Fi re-connect times but I
haven't have any issues with whatever version is loaded on mine.

[slim] Album Art Issues

2010-07-26 Thread UNCMo96

I am running squeezebox server on a vortexbox. My cover art is all
screwed up. In album art view it will not show. When I click on the
album is there. The files have cover.jpg and folder.jpg as album art
and have the art in the tags. Any thoughts?

Have you ever seen any DHCP problem in your setup?
