Actually got the phono amp and have now finally been able to bore the
family with comparisons between vinyl, CD and Squeezebox supplied
music.

Am happy as long as I can't see the cracks in the smudgily glued lid

Re: [slim] Windows 7 standby/hibernate

2010-09-08 Thread amcluesent

Odd. Your PC is wired to the router and not using wi-fi?

And no plug-in on the Squeezebox Server to do with power-management or
preventing system Stand By?

When testing, all were in standby mode (clock on display).

They are still chatting to Squeezebox Server just to get the time...I'd
still say that the PC is being woken up incoming packets from the
player(s).

Can you try turning off the power to player(s), keep Squeezebox Server
running and then put the PC into sleep mode.

If it still wakes-up after 3 seconds, I give up :(

It's a Project Phono Box (the first version) ... and it sounds great.
The turntable sounds better than I remember it, and in my brief (and
much maligned) listening tests I think the Linn Axis came out top - a
little more of a complete sound. The Squeezebox and my Arcam Alpha
Plus are much of a muchness ...

My family, on the other hand, couldn't give two hoots. Although they
do like the convenience of the SBs ...

Re: [slim] Squeezeslave stops playing after changing tracks

2010-09-08 Thread ralphy

I took a look at the log but nothing stands out as an issue.

One other thing to try until I have an updated version is building
squeezeslave from source.
Quite often issues like you're having have to do with a linux
distribution having a different version of one or more libraries than
the build system used to create the precompiled release.

There are instructions on the 'wiki'

What we are talking about is the turning my present CDs (from the last

Is it illegal? Probably. But then it is legal to hang a Welshman in

I feel no moral compunction to adhere to the law of destroying

Not sure about the Welshman in Worcester - I can see the logic in it,

Anyway, it is definitely illegal in almost all countries. However, I'd

I think that Radiohead CD's should be destroyed anyway, but that's just

[slim] SqueezeRemote for nokia phones

2010-09-08 Thread mcrahr

Hi I have created a SqueezeRemote controll for Nokia Touch devices, It
works like the IPENG for IPhone.

It currently have around 65% of the IPENG functionality. But the basic
is working more or less ok.

Status.
Seamsless Connection to SqueezeServer via WIFI
Possible to sync albums against server.
Album/Artist browsing on Phone via kenitch scroll
Getting Album Art, and storing local for fast access.
Showing Current playlist.
Volume controll
Play Pause next prev. Controll
Searching on server.

As this is a quite big job to do, I'm have made this as a open source
project on
ttps://code.nokia.com/hg/SR
It is done in QT, you can get that from
ww.forum.nokia.com/Develop/Qt/

This is a complete develop env. Working quite ok. It is possible to do
direct debugging in target, and getting traces from the USB.

So join in, if this is something for you.

You can try to rationalize it by drawing imaginary lines between what
you are proposing and illegal downloads (post #6), or buying new CDs
and selling them after converting them to FLAC (post #9). But none is a
more virtuous form of copyright infringement than the other.

the computer has to be wired to the router, the sb3 can be wireless.

i have a dell laptop and when i got it, i could not get it to go to
sleep or hibernate unattended. i tried EVERYTHING and the only thing
that worked, was swapping out the hard drive. from that point on, it
slept like a baby.

since SBS appears to be the only thing stopping your computer from
sleeping, i wonder if a SB or SBC or SN or something is reaching SBS
and waking the computer even as it attempts to get to sleep?

try disconnecting the cable/dsl modem from the router, and turning off
all slim hardware, and see if the problem persists.

I think I agree with that view. My intention was to donate my CDs to a
charity shop after I had ripped them. Thinking about this further
however, if someone buys them in the charity shop at a discounted rate,
they will not be buying them from the record company, and therefore the
artists will not be receiving their royalty payments. So, I am giving
someone else's money to charity without their permission. Interesting
dilemna isn't it?
