Hi tomjtx If you have to change the server settings all the time, then maybe we should work on improving your home network. All routers have the capability to assign the same IP to your server all the time via DHCP If that is in place, you will need to go into the settings screen one final time and then never ever again, so you won't miss the feature. Also your squeezebox likes a constant IP address of your server much more! Wombat, you were spot on, the files in question were highly compressed, I don't think dbPoweramp showed the compression level, but when I used dbPoweramp to 'convert' the files to Flac -8 the resultant file size was larger than the original files. It was some months ago and I cannot recall the particular files. I will go through things tomorrow to see if I can find them. I noticed that you were a contributor to that thread and considered sending a pm to you, but as soon as I had re-encoded the file and it worked I moved on to other things. I have 2 macbook pros running Mac OS 10.6.4. My music server is an old Emac running Tiger. My router is an airport extreme. But why not just equip SP with the same function Ipeng has? When you start the Airport Extreme Utility it has an option 'Internet/DHCP/Add DHCP reservation'. There you can configure that your Server-Tiger-Mac gets the same IP-Adress all the time. Then you'll never need to go to the settings screen of SqueezePad again. A couple of things I've noticed: 1: Sometimes, the menus will come up empty, the same way they always do after installing a new version. This can be usually worked around by pressing the 'play' button, then selecting 'turn off xxx', then exiting squeeze pad, then restarting squeeze pad, but it's a bit annoying. 2: When 'remove this song from the playlist' is tapped, Squeezepad puts up a dialog that says that the menu item isn't supported, but it actually does remove the song from the playlist, but it doesn't update the display to show the updated playlist unless you exit out of the playlist and then go back to it. Another new owner here - I bought this yesterday, and I'm very pleased so far. A have a couple of small issues which may well be simply my lack of familiarity so far: I can't get the scrub bar to work! The volume slider works as expected for me but I just cannot move the scrub slider to move forward / back in a track. Is there some trick to this or do I need to configure something? When I turn shuffle on for songs, this breaks the selection of tracks within an album. Once it is on, when I select a track on the left hand side, a completely different track in that album starts playing. The fact that no-one else has reported this makes me again think I must be doing something wrong... For info, I'm using the latest app version, 7.5 running on Windows Home Server. I have three classics and one touch. Almost all my music is FLAC. ...and a thought... Have you considered displaying the album art at a slightly higher resolution? I love the big art, but that just makes me want it even bigger. If it could be configured by the user that would keep everyone happy. I'd love the option to sacrifice the top and side borders to get the cover larger. I'm also thinking there's not too much going at the right hand side of the light grey bar at the top of the screen. If the volume control could be found a new home, that would free up enough screen estate to have album covers life (same as CD insert) size! [slim] Network setup for iPeng app
Before I buy the Ipenq app, I want to make sure everything in my network will communicate with each other.. I'll be using an Ipad on wireless network. SlimServer 7.5 is installed on a laptop. I use a switch to connect the sqeezebox Touch and the laptop running server together. Tunes are on a USB harddrive. I have another laptop running vista. I am trying to load slimserver remotely using http://192.xxx.xxx.xxx:9000/ i verified slimserver settings and it is using port 9000, the 'x' is a placeholder for the IP address of the laptop running slimserver. I am not able to bring up the webserver/brwoser slimserver on the other laptop. Does the 7.5 release allow you to bring up the server remotely? I know I was able to do this before on older versions. I'm concerned that iPenq might not be able to find the laptop running slimserver. I was unable to connect on the iPad using the same address I referenced above. I assumed that I had a ground loop or some power related problem. I tried everything I could think of to solve this including grounding my satellite dish. Nothing helped. Today I tried moving the squeezebox right next to the audio amp. I plugged the ac adapter into the same power strip that the amp is plugged into. Network performance got *much* worse! Next I replace the ac adapter with a universal adapter I had and the network performance was back to normal. I moved the squeezebox back to the other side of the room where it usually lives and the network is still healthy. I can't get the scrub bar to work! I have no idea why that wouldn't work. Isn't it moving at all - or snapping back to its original position ? If it isn't moving at all I think you didn't hit it properly. If it's snapping back to its original position, then the server for some reason doesn't accept scrubbing for this particular song. Did you try another song ? When I turn shuffle on for songs, this breaks the selection of tracks within an album. If have no real influence on how shuffling works. This is all done by your server (or MySqueezebox.com respectively), SqueezePad only kindly asked it to use the shuffle function. Just tried myself - the same happens when I use my Duet Controller (try yourself with your Touch !). Guess the 'logic' goes as follows: when you select a track, typically the whole album (starting from this track) is put int the playlist. As shuffle is in place, the album is instantly shuffled and you hear a random track from this album. Have you considered displaying the album art at a slightly higher resolution? Did you try the screensafer mode (single touch on the album art on the right) ? In portrait-screensafer-mode you will get the biggest coverart. OK, you got me off your back, I wont have to hunt you down in Germany to get my money back :-) The journey would have been more expensive ;) ! But we have good beer as well, so the journey might pay off anyway ... Wondered if you can help, I am something of an iPad noob. While trying to configure Squeezepad for the first time, the app crashed on me and now it will not launch past the splash screen. Any ideas? When did you download SqueezePad ? In the last few days or earlier ? There was a bug in the previous version which prevented connections to MySqueezebox.com. So first check if your iPad shows you an update for SqueezePad. If this doesn't help, delete SqueezePad from your iPad (long touch on the icon, then the X). After that go to the AppStore and download it again (the AppStore will show a 'Buy'-button - don't worry - you won't be charged twice). You should then be able to start SqueezePad again.
