Diy is the best bet :)

Repair manual ? come on it's a single circuit board cheap consumer
device, ce got repaired in the 70's .
When it had warranty they tossed the whole board in the recycling bin
and replaced it .

I can write a SB classic repair manual;)

-If main board broken replace with a new one

If wifi card is broken replace with a new one

If PSU broken replace with a new one

If VFD is broken replace with a new one

If in doubt give the consumer a new SB Classic and scrap the whole
unit.-

Joking aside these DIY'rs might know .

What could exist as documents is a circuit diagram has anyone leaked
one of those ?

In th good old days of hifi you could get one if you asked from many
companies

Re: [slim] Net::UDAP - SqueezeBox Receiver configuration tool

2010-12-20 Thread Marvt74

Hi Guys

I'm in the middle of trying to set up my receiver sans controller.

I've tried to follow the guide here
http://www.charmedquark.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=8392

However it doesnt seem to be working for me. I initially tried it
wirelessly and everything appeared to work (bearing in mind i couldnt
understand any of the messages it came up with)
However the end of the wireless section seemed to end quite abruptly.

I then tried to follow the wired section but it keeps coming up the
attached wording about "callback not implemented" on every command
i type.
The flashing light on the Receiver also didnt turn blue as its
apparently supposed to.

Any ideas what i should do?

Thanks

Hi bpa,

I guess I'll have to drop it here then. It's a pity as I just
discovered your RTE plugin which seemed to be the answer to my dreams.
I thought one could just change an address or something and all the
Irish would be speaking french.

I'll go back to the WaveInput approach. I now have it activated but
cannot see how to use it. Is it just me that's too dumb or does
everybody go through this trying learning period?

Thanks anyway and keep up the good work on providing us with more SB
possibilities.

Re: [slim] How to save a radio station to favorites w/ 7.5?

2010-12-20 Thread latimer

I agree with you that it's done very awkwardly.
What I found is that I can't add a station to favorites which is
currently playing but if I do the following steps from the home menu
Internet Radio -> Search -> enter a search term -> select a station
pressing '+' now brings up a menu to save to favorites.

It is a nuisance to do it this way but at least it's possible.
My suggestions would be:
1. Have a way to add an already playing station to favorites.
2. Have a search function like the one on the controller also on the
web interfaces.
3. Have a case insensitive search on the controller (who the heck
thought of this awkward long search list with upper and lower case
characters?)

I'll double-check when I get home, but I think Napster does, although
the monthly price is $5 instead of Rhapsody's $10. However Napster has
been having its own issues recently that appear to be related to
insufficient serving capacity on their end at peak demand times (see
various related threads).

I must be one of the lucky ones - but all the time.
I have a PC (winxp squeezeslave ASIO -> Behringer UCA202 -> receiver ->
speakers) in one room and my hifi stack with SB3 in an adjoining room.
Both systems are using the DAC in the attached receiver. SB server's
running on a third machine, a server of all things, in the basement.
Everything's hard wired.
I can often hear audio from both systems simultaneously, and detect no
out-of-synchronization, even when walking between rooms. Yes, I'm aware
of the way that our auditory apparatus will damp out early reflections,
so synch is probably not perfect.
As I remember, squeezeslave's got some timing adjustments available.
I've not needed them, though.

If I'm not just very lucky, I'm doing something that folks with synch
problems are not doing. Or some combination, including luck, of
course...

The station uses Flash Audio which does not lend itself to plugins.
Only the BBC works because they provided proper access to the streams
and did not enable player verification.

A plugin for this station needs a lot of screen scraping followed by
Flash emulation which first would need to be investigated to see if
France Musique have enabled security measures.

Is at very large playlist, then shuffle can be problem for the server
with large playlists and Touch.

The work around is to use the Dynamic Playlist plugin and pick random
songs from that very large playlist 10 at the time or soo.

Hi P,

I installed Audacity as you suggested. Thanks for that tip. It indeed
looks like a very interesting application. A sort of Photoshop of
audio. I am going to have some fun once I learn how to use it.

However, at first sight, it's not going to let me go to "France
Musique", click on a program available for re-transmissision, and sit
back and listen to it play over my HiFi installation via SB3. I would
first have to download it into Audacity, save it in an MP3 file and
replay it.

If that's right, then I feel I am still missing something - probably
simple - and that's very frustrating.
