I'm fairly happy with Rhapsody and I like that I can use it on my Android devices as well as Squeezebox. There are still quite a few things missing though. I've never used Napster or Rhapsody, so I can't compare them, but every time I have requested an artist that I could not find on Slacker, they have added it pretty quickly. They have a forum specifically for that. Until I got this free trial, I only used Slacker (free) for the rare times I was tired of listening to my library, or when my server was down. I should probably check out those other two before subscribing to any of them. I'm on the free trial of premium. Not all the features of premium work... Off the top of my head, I know you cannot play full albums and you can't access your playlists. I've upgraded to Slacker premium and every once in a while I got the error "You have logged in on another device, press PLAY to restart." Please Play button or Forward does not correct the issue. And I'm sure there are no other devices (i.e. iPhone / iPad / Computer) playing. Also the station does not play when clicking the "Play Artist Station" after Artist search. I don't have this issue at all when streaming Pandora or Last.fm. Anybody else has the issue on Slacker? I've upgraded to SBS Version: 7.6.0 - r32499 and have one Boom, 2 Radios and 1 Touch. Yes - that's exactly what I thought. I've had similar problems occasionally with Squeezebox in the past, especially when playing with Softsqueeze or Squeezeslave. But the latest version now seems great. I use a Seagate Dockstar for my server (kudos to squeezeplug.de!) and it struggled over the phone system with flacs - but the suggestion of using Shine just worked. [slim] Search application for Internet Radio Stations
A while ago I found a great program that would search for radio stations and return the URL, including multiple bitrates for the same station. I would then enter the URL in mysqueezebox.com as a Favorite. Unfortunately, I can't find this program on my PC. Does anyone know the name of this program or other programs that you can recommend? [slim] Cover-Art Grid visual interface for SqueezeBox-Touch
I recently got a SqueezeBox-Touch (very nice) and I wanted a more visual way to browse my albums (I have quite a lot). So since there was a java api available (thanks to http://code.google.com/p/javaslimserver/source/checkout) I wrote something that I think others might like. The screen shown is a simple grid of all album art that can be arranged as the user pleases. Right click on an album to queue it or a track (shift-click to play immediately). Newly albums albums appear on a "bottom shelf" and stay there till you drag them onto the main grid. Main grid auto-sizes. I was aiming for something which would be similar to browsing a physical shelf of cds (never liked long lists of artists/genres etc much). You can download the code at https://github.com/scaphe/SqueezeCoverGrid. I've only tried it on Mac and Linux (Ubuntu) so far. Requires java and ant to build. I was just about to report a further problem, almost certainly related... I stopped SqueezePlayer. I then restarted it, and it starting playing the track on the playlist. I then used SqueezeCommander to change to a different track. And it did. Unfortunately, it ALSO continued playing the old one...!!! I'll see how the new version behaves. No, you can't send the audio via wifi from your phone to the Boom. Your phone can't send the data using the protocol (slimproto) that the Boom understands/requires. So.. I don't want to turn on my PC every time I want to listen my music on SBBoom. Is it possible to play music which is loaded on Android phone (files are stored on phone's SD card :)) directly (via WIFI) to Squeezebox Boom device? What is the procedure (SW, setup) to do so? Using SqueezeCommander and SqueezePlayer on an HTC Desire S - works well using wireless and over 3G (just with a password, not using a tunnel). Excellent work - well done! However, I still have the issue that SqueezePlayer claims to be stopped and disconnected, but SqueezeCommander (and the web interface to the Squeezebox Server) says it's a working player. And if you ask the web interface or SqueezeCommander to play music for the player, the phone starts playing it. If you then open SqueezePlayer, it STILL claims it's not playing and not connected - and if you try to start it, it gets totally confused and you get mixed music of the songs playing over each other. The only way out seems to be to find the service and force close it on the phone. It's not shown as a running service, but if you find it under all services and close it, it does go away. It's not a disaster - just an annoyance.
