I'm no expert here, so forgive me if I have misunderstood. But, as I also discovered when I tried to export an iTunes playlist from my computer to the QNAP squeezebox server, the iTunes playlist is created with all files pointing to the music on my iTunes library, which in my case, was on my computer. So, although the music the Squeezebox server uses on the QNAP mirrors my iMac in folder structure, the music locations don't exactly match so the playlist doesn't work. It seems there is no easy work around if this is your situation. One thing you could do is to open the playlist in a file editor, and use a find/replace feature to change the root folders automatically. The other way would be to create a script to do this. I've been using Squeezepad fo a few weeks now and have to say it is an absolute revelation compared to all the Logitech controllers and web interface. However, I listen to a lot of podcasts which appear on the web interface under extras. This category does not appear on the Squeezepad and although extras appear on my Transporter display there is no podcast category here. I have looked at my apps etc but can only access podcasts feeds I've added through the web interface. The Podcast Browser plugin is of course installed. My WiFi Motorola Xoom updated to Ice Cream Sandwich (aka ICS) last night. After the update, SqueezePlayer was acting strange. Pop ups kept coming up about my server that I had to keep tapping OK on until eventually they went away. Once they went away, it wouldn't connect to my server (it showed a status of connecting...). The only way I was able to get it to connect was to go into settings and select manually configure server. That worked (thankfully). I use this app all of the time and I would have been very dissapointed if it stopped working. I did reinstall my server software the other day, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with it since my wife's Kindle Fire didn't have the issue when I brought it up. Other factors that may play into it: - I have 2 seperate servers, both running 7.5.5 - The server I was trying to connect to is using port 9001 (not the default). - Both servers are configured with security (they require a username and password). Hopefully this information will help others and help you determine if there is an issue to be fixed. Hi NasDonkey, If the problem is what I described, I dear say we both may be in for a long wait. I would imagine it is neither the responsibility of QNAP nor Logitech to make iTunes Playlists that are copied from one device to another easier. [slim] Advice needed for setting up Squeezebox Touch with WHS2011 iTunes
Hi all I've just bought a Squeezebox Touch. I have all my music in iTunes, a lot of it is rated and I have loads of smart playlists that are set to pick songs based on ratings, genres and when last played, so they auto-update with a new track each time one is played. I have seen that there are a number of plug-ins to sync with iTunes, but I can't work out which I need to use and how to use them. What I am hoping I can do is to be able to; 1 - Have Logitech Media Server monitor my iTunes music folders and let me access the music from the Touch. 2 - Have playcounts from the Touch synced back to iTunes (so it updates the smart playlists). 3 - Access iTunes playlists - is it able to do this? Does iTunes need to be running if so? 4 - If possible I'd like to be able to rate songs in the Touch and have the ratings transferred back to iTunes. Is this possible? If so, how do I do it and what does it do with music that's not in the iTunes database? 5 - A question about iTunes - where does it store the ratings and playcount data? In one of the DB files? Do I actually need iTunes installed on that PC or can I just have the .itl, .xml, etc files on it? Can anyone give me straight forward (ie dummies guide!) advice as to what I need and instructions on how to do it please? I'm running LMS on Windows Home Server 2011 and have iTunes installed on that as well. Thanks in advance! [slim] Squeezeplay interface on Desktop
I feel as though I am being dim here. I have downloaded and installed the most recent version (7.7.2 r0). However, when comparing what I see on my desktop with what is shown on the Wiki pages here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlay and particularly here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlayUI there is much missing. I don't see the track buttons that allow a track to be played, added to playlist or added as a favourite. Similarly, when moving the mouse, it suggests a play controller should appear. I don't get any of that. Is the Wiki article a wish list, or do I need to install a differnt version or plug-ins/add-ons to enable the enhanced experience? Why not spend the money on a decent digital camera and a camera stand instead? You'll note that it has been almost 4 years since the wiki page has been updated. There have been a lot of changes to the firmware/software since then. The current SqueezePlay interface looks just like a SB Radio, SB Touch, or SB Controller. The big question is, despite the outdated wiki, can you find your way around the SqueezePlay menus? I have used the web interface to control my players (Rio receivers running SLimRio), but it's pretty clunky. I have also played with Moose which keeps a local copy of the database to allow searching and selecting. That's snappier, but it tends to choke when switching between players, particularly when they have many items in the queue to be played. Any other suggestions? I think ICS has a bug: it reports a servername where I want to retrieve an IP address. And this servername in turn cannot be resolved to an IP address, which is why the automatic server detection might not work anymore. When SqueezePlayer tells you it connects to server xyz. It does not work on Touch or Radio and also not in SqueezePad. In the meantime, Logitech created a Podcasts App as a replacement that you can install via MySqueezebox.com. Hi Rich, the 'unknown:9000' part is the troubling one. This is where the IP should be visible.
