OK, I have found a way to at least rename the 2 iPads. Rename the iPad and re-start both iPads completely. So that it is a good thing :-) The additional question: when I want to use the iPad playback on the second iPad do I need to pay a second time the 3,99 Euro? So in other words, is the iPad playback feature linked to the iPad ? Or do you buy it once and you can then use it on multiple iPads? Network test is not 100% reliable in higher bitrates it loads the player more than real transmissions. The code formthat have changed, I do remeber that i've sent more than that to a wired players but as the test does not work as well as it used to... 16/44.1 pcm is rougly 1.4mbps . And if they play just fine there is really no problem to solve . You may gain some reliability if you do serverside transcoding for flac on24/96 files with very high compression levels ( they can stutter) otherwise it serves no purpose . Or you can reflac those files with level -0 or -5 then the TP manages fine For alac you must trancode as they don't play it natively, but transcode to flac. You only need half the troughput with flac for the same resolution, that why most transcoding is set up to flac in the first place. I do remeber that my win XP never managed more than 1,5 mbps but ubuntu on the same PC got me up to 5 mbps when the test worked, the menu for it seems entirely gone on my boom ? Hi All, Just wanted to buzz in here. I have download the App including the iPad playback, and YES, I think I have found the solution that I have been looking for .. and I have been looking for about 8 months Main requirements 1. being able to use Lastfm scrobbling 2. having good sorting features Equipment I had until about a week ago 1. ONKYO DLNA NR708 2. B&W Zeppelin Air with AirPlay 3. Synology DS211 with Media Server & DLNA features 4. 2 x iPad app from Synology, which works great to stream from DS211 to DLNA ONKYO Disadvantage: no solution to do LastFm scrobbling which was annoying to me. I use lastfm a lot ot read up on bands & similarities. So these are my additions this week 5. Apple TV2 connected via HDMI to my ONKYO 6. Updated Logitec Package for Synology : Logitech Squeezebox Server 7.7 7. SqueezePad app with iPad playback pluggin And now this is how I play my music and with the features I want Music on DS211 -> Logitech Squeezebox Server -> SqueezePad -> Airplay -> ATV2 -> ONKYO ! And this gives me lastfm scrobbling that I was looking for. And on top: it gives me the lastfm information straight from within the app ! WOW ! just super ! More testing to come ! One question for the SqueezePad developper: how can I do the following? iPad 1 -> using Airplay to Stream to B&W Zeppelin Air (with Airplay features) iPad 2 -> using Airplay to Stream to ATV2 (with Airplay features) I have installed the app on both iPads, but they always seem to be in Sync. [slim] How to see album art when browsing 'Music Folder' in Squeezebox Server?
(6+ year Squeezebox user here, but mostly a lurker on these forums...) I've noticed for some time now that album art no longer is displayed in the web interface when browsing my collection via the "Music Folder" option (Home > My Music > Music Folder). My music is organized in a typical directory structure -- Artist/Album/Tracks. When I select the artist and see the list of albums for that artist the album art is no longer displayed next to each album title. I believe this used to work, although I could be misremembering. Also, when I select a specific album and see the list of tracks for that album, the album art is not displayed above the track listing. I'm certain that this used to work in prior versions of the server software. Additionally, this screen no longer has a button or other option to play all tracks from the album. Again, I'm certain that this used to be possible. But now I need to back up one screen (to the albums list) and use the Play button there if I wish to play all tracks from the album. None of these problems exist when browsing Artists (Home > My Music > Artists). Was this functionality removed in some past version of the server software? If so, why? If not, how can I reenable it? I've looked through the settings and have found none that seem to be applicable. Ok, getting back to the performance issues mentioned above I have a bit more insight. It seems the server bogs down on large playlists, which is what I have been running almost exclusively. You see, if you run a pre-made playlist (eg over 300 songs) the whole thing loads into the 'current playlist' at once and i guess the server or M2T can't handle it. The overall performance of M2T is just trashed. I think this is issue arose since a recent server update. In contrast, if you run directly from media folders using, for example, Random Mix, the 'current playlist' size remains much smaller and everything works ok. When the song list gets to the end it just adds more songs and everything runs fine because the list never gets too large. The issue with large lists is well documented here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76925&highlight=500 There are plugin solutions discussed that I believe are not currently feasible for M2T (happy to have someone correct me). One fix is to just reduce the max playlist size under 'performance' on the server - this does in fact fix the performance problems. However, if you reduce the max to say 100, then only the 1st 100 songs from a saved list will ever get added to the 'current playlist', even when random is selected. What is needed is a way to run saved playlists of unlimited size while having manageable portions fed into the 'current playlist' as needed. If anyone has a way to do this i'm all ears. There's a problem with the server that under certain conditions it doesn't report changes if you do a clear&rescan. If the number of tracks, albums etc doesn't change it's a bit hard to know the library has changed. [slim] Transporter and SB Classic packet throughput
What are the right througput levels for Transporter and SB Classic? I used the Network Test function and obtained about 1 Mbps throughput for them. Note that both of them are wired. 1 Mbps throughput on a wired network seems to be very low to me. Are there ways to improve the throughput? I experimented server side transcoding and converted FLAC and Apple Lossless files to PCM before sending to Transporter and SB Classic. They play just fine. But when I use Wireshark to trace the packets, I see lots of packets from the server labeled as "TCP segment of a reassembled PDU". This seems to me that there are lots of packet retransmissions. I also traced some packets for MP3 music. There are no such "TCP segment of a reassembled PDU" packets from the server side. This suggests that there is no packet retransmission for MP3 music. I would be interested in tuning the system so that my Transporter and SB Classic can achieve higher throughput level. It's the nature of developing software for your own use that you do so in a bit of a vacuum. I'm very picky about my library and I don't have a large number of live recordings, so I rarely see missing artwork. When I do, I want to be told and to fix it immediately. But, of course, sometimes there isn't any way to fix it and in those cases I can definitely see not wanting to be reminded of that. Yes, indeed -- clearing the cache will force the artist artwork to be rebuilt which is the place that the old orange X is being cached. I should actually address this anyway because there's no sense in caching a prebuilt image of that for each artist. Do you probably do daily clear & rescans? Those can get unnoticed if you restart the server after the rescan. It is easy to by mistake insert and extra space at the end . And case matters . Some things you might try: 1. Lower or remove the security setting on your new router temporarily to verify that it works and at what setting the problem occurs. You might also force it to use wireless G, and not N, as part of your testing. 2. Did you check Thompson's website to see if there is a firmware update? 3. As always, the security key is case sensitive. If the sbt sees the router and asks for a password, mis-keying the password is the only problem. [slim] new router, can't connect Squeeze Touch to network
Dear All, After being happy with the out of the box performance of the Touch, I am now stumped. I moved house and have a new router, a Thompson, with WPS, every laptop, mobile phone, PS3 iPad gadget connects and works seamlessly, but not the Touch. nothing I have tried will get it to work. If I stick the Ethernet cable in the back it's golden, but it just won't connect via WPS button or via the network key. I've factory reset it, turned it off, beaten it with a stick, and it just won't play ball. The router uses WPA2-AES personal, which is supported I read, but no luck.. Any clues? Or should I give up all hope?
