 Logitech

Another good sign is that even if they are cutting other parts of the
organization, they still seem to hire people to specifically work with
Squeezeboxes:

Future will tell what's going to happen, but it's nice to know that the
oldest Squeezebox (Classic) I've had for over 6 years are still going to
continue working great for local music and for streaming services
through third party plugins for many more years, independent of what
actions Logitech takes. I can honestly say that the number of hardware
devices which are used on daily basis that survives 6 years in my home
are fairly limited, the Sherwood amplifier still beats the Squeezebox
but most other newer devices have already been replaced.

Is anyone sure anything from Apple (except for computers) which you
purchase today is going to be useful 2018 ?
I think my iPod Touch 1G was purchased 2007 and it became more or less
useless about 2-3 years later, theoretically it still works but in
practice most new apps requires newer iOS versions than the iPod Touch
1G supports.

2012-07-04 Thread pippin

Both of my 1G iPod touch's are still being used every day although both
not by me.
I bought the first one on the day it came out, that's almost 5 years
now.

You are right, App support is almost nonexistent anymore (I can't even
make iPeng builds for it myself now, for example) so they've pretty much
become what the Squeezebox has always been: single purpose devices as a
remote control or an actual audio player (something the iPod touch
hasn't been throughout the first few years of it's life.
Although one is still being used for internet browsing an e-mail, too.

But you are right: my SB3s are still the _most_ used Squeezeboxes I have
so there's clearly a difference in the level of aging.

Thank you for the answer. I have the Touch and the Duet both synced and
not. But this has no bearing the functioning of Spotify, at least not in
my experience. And Spotify will not play on either device unless
Logitech Media Server is running.

So if either Squeezebox is on but not connected to my music library
though LMS, I can see the Spotify app on the squeezebox. But there is no
sound. But as soon as I run it with LMS, Spotify works.

OK. just to clarify, which Spotify app are you running? The Logitech
app or Triode's 3rd Party Spotify App. (The Duet will ONLY work with
Triode's Spotify 3rd party app, and to use it, you must be running your
local LMS on the computer)

I have them both, but it's only Triode's Spotify app that works when
running LMS.

This means that when I want to access one of the squeezeboxes using the
squeezebox app for android devices I have to do so though
mysqueezebox.com. And then Spotify is dead.

ok. so all works fine running local LMS with triode's spotify. And of
course the official logitech spotify app will NOT work at all with the
duet. It will only work on TOUCH or RADIO.

With logitech spotify app, it should work when you are connected to
mysqueezebox.com and playing the TOUCH (not synched to duet). So this
is where your problem seems to be. I'm not sure what the android
controller app has to do with the problem, but leave that out of the
loop for now. What happens when you select the official spotify app FROM
THE TOUCH SCREEN MENU itself (via my apps spotify). And be sure
you've entered your premium spotify account userid/pw at the settings
for the official spotify app (login to your mysqueezebox.com account on
the web, and enter your spotify settings at the spotify app there).

Re: [slim] Spotify on squeezebox devices

2012-07-04 Thread Mnyb

Maybe get the andriod app to connect to the local LMS server , if you
choose my music can you play your own local files ?

Also mysqueezebox.com integration must be on in LMS and LMS must have
your mysqueezebox.com login in it's settings ( use settings from web-UI
not the controll panel ) .
Otherwise when choosing my apps it will switch over to mysqueezebox.com
for those functions .

LMS and mysqueezebox.com must be aware of each other then switching
between the local server and mysb.com becomes less convoluted as the
server are aware of the players whereabouts all the time .

I've taken the steps you've outlined, however no improvement. Just for

when I select app it opens
when I select a station, the now playing window up-dates with the
 artwork, title info, timer
the timer/clock will be begin running, however no audio is produced
this will continue for 8-10 secs before advancing to the next track
the process continues never producing any audio

This is not isolated to Pandora; all apps I've attempted to run have the
same results. I'm certain I've got something mis-configured.
You need to get the app out of Apps Gallery and into My Apps. you do
that by logging in to your account on mysb.com, and then installing
the app. Nothing is really installed in the normal sense of the word,
but installation is when you can put in your user account information
for Pandora or other subscription services (free or paid).

I mis-spoke, the apps are present in the my apps tab of LMS. Again,
everything appears fine up to the point you'd expect to hear audio.

Sounds like the ExecuteScript plugin will do exactly what you want, it
will allow you to run a script on power on and power off. Currently it's

might work with 7.7 also but you would have to manually install it.

In 7.6 and earlier you will find it in the Plugins tab in SBS/LMS
Settings, in 7.7 you will currently have to manually install it by
downloading it from the developer site:
 http://kdfplugins.googlecode.com/files/ExecuteScript-r51.zip

This is exactly what I wanted (trigger a script when a player powers
on). Download and installed the plugin. I do see its settings screen,
created a script folder and can select the scripts in this folder. My
squeezebox classic also displays running script test.sh and that's it
the script doesn't execute on the Mac
