If this fails for a longer time it will present the licensing dialog. Looking at the logs will help to identify your issue. As written before: on ICS Google did introduce some problems with some payed Apps. According to this report: http://www.h-online.com/newsticker/news/item/Google-forced-to-temporarily-deactivate-copy-protection-for-Android-apps-1661755.html updating Google Play and reinstalling the App might help. I'm not sure though, if it will really help with SqueezePlayer and if its the same problem. Another possible workaround is to purchase via AndroidPit (send me your Google order number, I can refund it easily). I'm very very sorry about the inconvenience. It's very depressing, when license management prevents paying users from using the App :( bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is Squeezebox dead?
I small promising sign today. The German ct' magazin today writes (it's a wrapup about what is to be expected from the IFA consumer show regarding music streaming services) "It is rumored that Sonos will announce a new player, also a new SqueezeBox is said to appear soon. If one of the new players will be presented at IFA isn't known yet" The same author (in a test of music streaming devices) wrote about Squeezeboxes two months ago, that it's a pity that Logitech only has two devices left and there is nothing known about the future. So at least his information background changed in the meantime. bluegaspode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96134 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is Squeezebox dead?
Frankly, I'd be reasonably happy with a continued mysb.com that kept up with music services and continued to work with Lms. I can do about all I want with existing Lms and 3rd party plugins. I've already got 2 touch players and a radio for backup units when my hardware starts breaking. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96134 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

They'd just write it off. The only question that remains is whether they're working on any products that would give them a reason to keep mysqueezebox.com running after they've sold the last of the Squeezeboxes. There is a solution, but squeezeplayer cannot be restored from a backup and retain the license you have paid for. Re: [slim] Is Squeezebox dead?
I do understand the sentiment behind the thread, the initial loss of (genius) Sean Adams from the team and then Logitech's failure to rival the Apple TV may have dampened the enthusiasm for new players to be produced. However, I have always felt that one of the greatest strengths behind the brand has been this forum and its ingenious software developers who have kept improving the overall package with countless plug ins and apps for many years. Also Squeezepad, iPeng - I salute you! The Transporter was years ahead of its time but with the emergence of cheaper storage, higher file higher resolutions and the introduction of asynchronous UBS as the preferred digital interface for audiophiles then it's time for something new to head the family. This may arrive from the various Vortexbox powered appliances or other PC software driven derivatives. I have tried owning alternatives but I keep coming back to LMS. At present there's a Transporter, a Touch, 5 Booms and a new "audiophile" SOTM inspired server in the house where as the Sooloos, the Naim and the Bang & Olfsen have all been and gone. I'm sure if Logitech did pull the plug then they'd sell the "SlimDevices" package on to a new owner for it to be reborn yet again - and with today's methods of raising funding online it wouldn't be too bizzarre to see the marque owned by the forum members themselves! Thanks guys -- love it!!! dpaws's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16896 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96134 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for any thoughts. first case. nothing as far as I know unless you're trying to stream to NON-Squeezebox devices that use DLNA (DVD players, xbox, etc.). second case. yes, LMS will run on some NASes. not sure about synology 212, but search this forum for synology and you'll likely see if it is possible. I use a headless vortexbox, stuck in a back closet connected to router as my "NAS" for streaming audio via LMS (and storing network accessible files, etc.). LMS out of the box is gapless for FLAC or mp3 and there is no transcoding unless you turn on bit rate limiting in the LMS settings. If you send a FLAC file to the SB via LMS, it will be delivered bit-perfect to the player. And yes, you can you a great variety of smart phones and tablets to control everything. I use iPeng app on iphone, iPengHD on ipad, and SqueezePad on ipad. All excellent. In all three of these cases, I can also stream music to my iphones and ipads with these apps (that is, the iphone/ipad is actually seen as a hardware SB player, including ability to synch with other SB players). garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96154 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] noob questions on SSODS, whitebear and NAS-only operation
New to the squeezebox world, read lots of stuff, but I don't feel comfortable I "get it" concerning what several applications or plugins allow me to that I cannot do otherwise, and what I applications or plugins I need to do certain things. First case: Compared to using LMS from a computer that is running all the time and streaming to one or several Touches, what exactly can I not do if I don't use whitebear? Same question concerning SSODS. Yes, I've read what they can do, but I'm not expert enough to translate that into what I cannot do without each compared to just running LMS on my PC. Second case: Can I install just LMS on a NAS like a synology 212 and stream to my Touches without a PC running? If not, what application(s) or plugin(s) do I need instead of or in addition to LMS to stream from a NAS to my Touches without a PC running? In both cases, I strongly prefer gapless streaming of FLAC or mp3 files via wired or wireless networks without any quality-degrading transcoding, and be able to use tablets or smartphones as Touch control points. Thanks for any thoughts. gozer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56971 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96154 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

michael123 wrote: > http://vimeo.com/21880281 > http://www.sonataserver.com/ This is the dealbreaker for me: "The SONATA music Server software works with Windows XP, Vista and 7; Home Starter, Premium and Ultimate 32 and 64 bits." I'm not a Windows user, and I think that one of the advantages of LMS is that it is available for several OS platforms. Me, I get everything I need from my Squeezebox system (2xSBR, 1xSB3 and 1xSBT, LMS running on a QNAP NAS box): I'm not offended by the web GUI, and I like to use Squeezepad and iPeng on a iPad to control the system. I'm happiest when server software updates are infrequent.
