Re: [slim] iPeng, your iPhone Squeezebox Remote, gets even better with version 2.0!
Okay, I'm considering giving iPeng a try. I installed iPeng Party, but it says it can't find my player. I'm running the latest squeezeserver on the same Wifi network that my iPhone is connected to. I'm somewhat hesitant to pay $6 for the full iPeng if iPeng Party isn't even working. Any idea what I'm missing here? thinker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96749 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] iPeng, your iPhone Squeezebox Remote, gets even better with version 2.0!
Is your Squeezebox also connected to the server or maybe to MySqueezebox.com? You can't enter your account for MySqueezebox.com in iPeng Party since that would be against the philosophy of iPeng Party (giving away the credentials would give you permanent, full access) so you can only remotely configure this through the full iPeng. With the normal iPeng you can just tap MySqueezebox.com and register it when you use it the first time to make it work (unlike Logitech, iPeng doesn't force you to register). iPeng Party also doesn't show disconnected players (disconnected from a server) Please check for that and maybe switch your Squeezebox to your server by selecting My Mysic on the Squeezebox. Server discovery is usually very reliable in both iPeng and iPeng Party. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96749 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
The embedded browser in iPeng is slow for the very reason that it's searching for playable link (plus a horrible bug in iOS 6 for some links but you are not affected by that on your iPad 1). Apart from that link search it's really the same Safari you use everywhere on the iPad. Unless bluegaspode finds a way to dramatically speed up that search (something often dependeent on the remote network speed, at least in iPeng), I doubt it would be faster there. But it would of course allow you to use SqueezePad directly for this, if you prefer it. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

With the setting of Never convert I can play most files of 24/96, but anything higher and I get some serious stutters. bhaagensen wrote: Pippin - on my 3GS the albumcovers (in the new view- mode) appears quite pixelated, especially when zoomed into. are you aware of this? Ah. Actually no... Well, say I forgot about non-retina devices, sorry, will fix that in the next update. I originally developed this for iPeng UE and forgot to also flag the sizing change in iPeng for Phone (iPeng UE, technically, really is an iPeng for iPad running on an iPhone whereas iPeng for iPhone still uses somewhat different code). Most of the testing was on UE and I just enabled it in iPeng for iPhone, too, when it was ready. Sizing in this case is a bit complicated :) The view is ported from iPeng for iPad where I simply use covers in twice the size than on iPhone. That would be 150x150 on non-retina displays and 300x300 on retina displays. The tiles in iPeng for iPhone are smaller, though (I'm talking of the default size here, of course you can scale them as you please), only 120x120. Now my choices would have been to use either _that_ (and they would scale badly for the smaller, 75x75 list-view images), make the list-view images smaller (would spoil the 3-line layout and also be a step backwards if that's what you use) or always use the larger images (would mean I load 300x300's on iPhone 4, 4S and 5). What I decided was an intermediate step: always use 150x150 on iPhone. That means they would scale down fine for the lists and somewhat acceptable for both the 120x120 and the 240x240 tiles. It would not be perfect but going straight to 300x300 on an iPhone would really consume a _lot_ of memory. I also want to stick with my 150x150 and 300x300 steps for performance reasons. All artwork gets cached not only by iPeng but also by the server and MySqueezebox.com, so using few, common form factors will help performance if you've got more than one device (or always, in the case of MySB). pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96749 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thanks for the feedback. I have the original DacMagic which accepts only 24/96, so EDO doesn't work for me. It does make me wish I had a better Dac so I could try it out! I have no problem playing files over 24/96 on the Touch. My problem is I'm trying to use JRiver as a front end, through Whitebear, to the Touch. Of course, LMS on its own downsamples larger files to 24/96. My problem going through Whitebear is those 176, 192, and 196 sample rates have stuttering playback. If I use the convert option, the files are downsampled too much. I'm sorry if I'm hijacking this thread but I'd love to discover I'm doing something wrong. I guess I'm not understanding what the problem is. Your player and external DAC are not capable of playing your 24/192 files natively. And when these are files are played they are successfully down sampled to 24/96 and play fine. Correct? I highly doubt you would hear any discernible difference between 192 and 96, down-sampled or not. Seems you are over complicating a problem that doesn't exist on hardware not capable of playing 192, all to hear likely no difference when properly played at 96. This makes me think that the server doing the downconversion may not be powerful enough when used with Jriver and whitebear. I don't use either of these so I'm no help with that. The squeezebox on its own successfully down converts higher sample rates to 24/96, and I have no problems. The JRiver-Whitebear-squeezebox combination, on the other hand, has considerable problems with the larger files: they stutter to the point of being unplayable. As I said, I can tell JRiver to convert the file but it then converts everything all the way down to 48hz. I can't figure out how to get it to convert the large files only to 96, and yes, I've tried the DSP studio settings. I'm skeptical that the highest sample rates will make a difference, but I'd want the files to be at least playable. BTW, I'd like to use JRiver for the tagging and SACD ISO playback, but the combination isn't working for me. [slim] Need help getting my (original) Squeezebox working on Mac
I was an early adopter of the Squeezebox, buying one that plugs directly into my receiver back in 2003. LOVED IT. Then a couple of things happened. One, Logitech bought the company and seemed to just start messing things up. Two, we got a Mac. For the last year I have not been able to get my actual Squeezebox (the one plugged into the receiver and connected to my wifi network) to connect with my Mac (which has the server software running, apparently). Can someone help me troubleshoot. I have no idea why it won't connect, except if I had to guess it has something to do with the squeezebox server. E.g. it is difficult to open/run on the Mac. It seems like I need to install it every time, or restart the utilities file. Its just not intuitive. Once we get them connected and speaking, my second question relates to how I run Pandora over the Squeezebox server. Thanks for any and all help!! mckinnonw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58412 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97518 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Need help getting my (original) Squeezebox working on Mac
Update: I figured out that the wireless security password was blocking my Squeezebox from connecting to the network, and I fixed that. My Squeezebox (e.g. the device plodded into my receiver) is now connected to my computer. BUT, now when I am on mysqueezebox.com and I search for players, it does not identify any. Does my squeezebox.com not recognize the old Squeezebox device? And if so, is there any way to stream music to it? Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music-Playback now on ANDROID! SqueezePlayer released to the market ...
Syncing software players is always hit and miss ,it can work for some not for others . Using real hardware squeezeboxes this usually works fine.
