Re: [slim] SB1 wireless problem with Ubiquiti UniFi AP
OP again. I think the poor thing is dying. I switched it to a wired connection and completed setup. It was able to allocate an IP address from my DHCP server and connect to my LMS, ending with the "Setup is complete! Press the right button to use your Squeezebox". I press the right button, and the display goes off and doesn't come back on. :( Emperor Wu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13812 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101670 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] SB1 wireless problem with Ubiquiti UniFi AP
I'm a long time Squeezebox user and have both the Squeeezebox 1 and Squeezebox 2. I recently switched off my dying Linksys WRT-54G access point and replaced it with a Ubiquiti UniFi AP. This AP supports a number of protocols but I set up a wireless network with name "Switcheroo" and WEP 64-bit security. My Squeezebox 2 sees the network fine and connects, but the SB1 does not. When I get to the "Choose your wireless network (SSID):" screen when I scroll down, rather than seeing "real" network names I see things like: zézézézézézézézézézézézézézézézé or DéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDéDé I do get the choice to enter my own network name, and I can enter "Switcheroo" and specify the password, and it goes to "Connecting to wireless network" and counts down from 20, then fails to find the network. Has anyone seen this garbled network name issue before? Any advice? Re: [slim] Need recommendations for music subscriber service
Sorry I'm a little late in seeing this, but I subscribed to SKY.FM http://www.sky.fm/ along with Pandora. SKY FM has a great library and the paid service bumps you up to 256kbps. The sound is AWESOME. They also have mobile apps for streaming on the go. I'm tempted to cancel my SiriusXM subscription and use this instead! There's also a sister 'station' to SKY which is JAZZ RADIO http://www.jazzradio.com/. When you pay for SKY you also get JAZZ RADIO, which is also 256kbps. It works great with LMS to all devices in sync. Example a real squeezebox has a alarge buffer about 30 seconds ,but the playback controll comands bypass that down in the player so your never bothered when using the player . and the small adjustments needed for sync is also done down in the player . One less bit of hardware, cables, digital interfaces, plus operating system, seems much simpler and neater to me, but I know some people like having another bit of kit. I did briefly try syncing (and I have the syncoptions plugin installed), but I don't think it will work too well. I've never used it other than for idle interest, so I'm not too bothered. Re: [slim] How to determine the language of a song or album name ?
You also look at the info on musicbrainz. It gives you the album language. E.g. http://musicbrainz.org/release/988fed07-10b4-4153-bbf9-d0d6576fa174 Have no idea what that album is. Randomly chosen.
