Re: [slim] Olive One - any downsides?
I thought I'd confirm that Olive are slowly starting to send out units to Indiegogo backers and that I received mine in Australia last week. Olive are being tight lipped about how many units have been shipped but they are asking those who have got a unit to post their experiences on Zendesk. At some stage they moved manufacture to Taiwan (they originally claimed it would made in the US) and ran into major problems with the casting of the aluminium case. My feeling is they became swamped with manufacturing off shore which has lead to lengthy delays and they didn't want to admit this to increasingly frustrated backers who had provided over half a million dollars for development. Instead they made more and more (inevitably broken) promises about imminent shipment. The player itself is a pretty good unit, much more premium feeling than a Squeezebox (I had two original slim devices and a later Logitech duo) but it isn't a patch on the flexibility, usability and user friendliness of the Squeezebox so far. Olive have promised to release an open SDK 'some time in the future' which might improve things if they can get enough momentum going. They have also been regularly updating the SW and slowly it is becoming more useful. They have also asked owners for feature requests - time will tell if they all get implemented but a few have so far. At least it looks like it is intentional, the My Music nie had an 'All artists' and 'Album Artists' menu. With Beta versions I typically wait, if issues are resolved automatically by the author of the changes. App Store review times are about 5 days nowadays, with such a lag it wouldn't be fun to try to fix any issue coming up in Betas immediately. So I'm afraid you either need to live with the problem and hope it gets resolved with a future nightly or just roll back to the stable version 7.8. Hi Stefan, I updated to LMS 7.9.0 to fix an issue I was having, and now I seem to have lost the "Artists" button on the lower left pane of the iPad app. I can go into the My Music main menu and see Album Artists, but this seems to behave more like All Artists. I really miss the Artists button (which must have behaved like Album Artists)! Please advise if there is a fix for this, or I should revert back to 7.8. Thanks, I decided to try out Ubuntu server and it is working very well. I was able to get LMS, CrashPlan, Subsonic and SMB sharing installed without too much trouble. The laptop is using about 10 watts idle and 18 watts streaming music with LMS while backing up to CrashPlan. David, I would invest in iPeng. It is a wonderful program/interface for controlling your Squeezeboxes/LMS. It works a dream on the iPad and costs very little. [slim] Logitech Squeezebox iPad App
I have used the BBC iPlayer plugin, now v1.2.12 by Triode, for some years with my Duet. It works perfectly on the Logitech remote, the web interface and the Logitech Squeezebox Controller App on my Android phone. However, the Logitech Squeezebox App in my iPad (v4 iOS7) fails to display "yesterday's" programmes. This suggests to that the problem lies with the iPad App not the plugin.
