Re: [slim] Connection timeouts

2014-08-04 Thread toby10

What about an actual hardware player attempting to connect by itself (no
App)? Same result? Sure computer is not going into sleep/hibernation?
Any chance the computer is getting a different IP (maybe router is
re-leasing IP's nightly)?

Re: [slim] Connection timeouts

2014-08-04 Thread Squeezed_Rotel

I have always experienced this behavior using 7.3 through 7.8. My server
is a W7 box that sleeps 24/7, or until a boom or iPad sends a wake up
(wol). In my case, the server never completes the wake up in time to
prevent the waking up server...connecting...cannot connect... string
of messages...
A repeat of the process is of course always successful i.e. no timeout.

On an actual squeezebox you just have to wait and dont touch any buttons
(if you do touch a button you may have to repaet the conection attempt )
, I know because i WOL my server from cold ie booting it up .

[slim] Taking SBRadio on trip question

2014-08-04 Thread Ikabob

I'm going to take my SBRadio with us for a short trip. We are staying at
a BB that has wifi.
I am unsure how to create a connection to get my Radio to play with
mySB.com. Thank you for some directions.

Re: [slim] Taking SBRadio on trip question

2014-08-04 Thread Apesbrain

Someone else just asked a similar question:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101903-The-Boom-on-vacation

In short, if the wifi at the BB does not require additional
authentication (e.g. a page where you have to enter your last name and
room number) then you should be able to connect to mysqueezebox.com.
Connecting to your local LMS is another matter, however. Here's an old
guide:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Connecting_remotely

It's a little outdated but will give you the basic idea. The ports you
need to open should be forwarded for UDP and TCP. If you are only going
to be gone a few days you can probably skip the stuff about DDNS.
You'll need to leave your server powered on. If your library is
lossless bandwidth can sometimes become a problem (e.g. stuttering).

Radio Settings Advanced Networking Switch to MySB.com
You can try it now while you are at home, just so you can get familiar
with how it switches and where the menu items are located.

Make it easier - at the Switch option hit the + button and add the
option to the Home menu
