stof77 wrote: > > so it won't show any cover art that way (only for tracks as were saying > pippin), I guess it's the same when browsing by genre. > No, that's not the same. Genre, Artists, Albums,... it will always show album art (OK, there is no "genre" art but album art on the levels below). The issue is specific to music folders. > > Maybe the plugin Custom Browse could do something about it. Don't think so. maybe for 7.9 with the browsing-without-scanning. The problem is: LMS doesn't have artwork for folders. Actually, the "normal" way LMS works is by storing all information in it's database and that's where you can get information from. Like album artwork or track artwork. Now, with folders this is different. A folder is just a folder, nothing else, it is not linked to other information in the database. When a folder contains tracks, these tracks can be found in the database and that's where the artwork for the tracks in the folder display comes from. Now... theoretically an App could do what OrangeSqueeze does for Artists and just get a number of elements on the next level, so for example for a folder it could read a number of tracks in the folder and get the artwork from there. The problem with this approach is that LMS _scans_ a folder whenever you open it. This is slow. Very slow. Very, very slow. And it puts a lot of load on the server. On some servers it's enough load to interrupt playback. Now imagine you open a folder that would show 10 subfolders which contain an album each: the server would have to open all 10 subfolders, scan them and return the items. Only then can the App even start to load artwork. This can easily take 30s or even a few minutes for a page and during that time a slow server might become very unresponsive. What's worse: if you e.g. scroll through a long list you might start scanning more folders, maybe 100 of them. all of this doesn't really make it any better Been there, tried it :) So for music folders... until 7.9 becomes the standard and music folder browsing without scanning works well we probably won't see artwork for folders anywhere and even then it might be broken because I'm not sure that in a typical use case for the "browsing without scanning" the server even _knows_ the artwork so you end up with a theoretical option that just returns empty icons... --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97467 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Petition Qobuz Streaming service to offer a "Radio mode" like other streaming servic
Hi, Qobuz, the french streaming service, certainly have great audio quality, and since they finally fixed (mostly) their search engine, they are now a vialbe alternative to Tidal/Wimp Hifi/Deezer Elite. However, what they lack is some form of dynamic playlisting, mostly known as "Radio Mode". Since they have a section for user requests, and this has been asked for numerous times, I thought I'd give this a go and use their "suggestions" board to try and generate some momentum for this. So, if you are a Qobuz user and would like to see this implemented, please vote for it here: http://aide.qobuz.com/forums/197012-id%C3%A9es-questions-et-nouvelles-fonctionnalit%C3%A9s/suggestions/3834412-est-il-pr%C3%A9vu-d-inclure-la-fonction-de-radio-bas%C3%A9e Thanks! Re: [slim] Full scan hangs
Thanks to all for your helpful replies to my "Full scan hangs" problem. I started a full scan about 45 minutes ago. After about 35 minutes, my Squeezebox showed the "Can't connect to server" message. At the time I lost contact with the Squeezebox, the scanner.log showed what I have cut and pasted below, under the dotted line. Note also that there were many instance of the "skipping!" issue, but when I tried pasting the entire scanner.log file I got the following message: The following errors occurred with your submission You have included a total of 21 images in your message. The maximum number that you may include is 10. Please correct the problem and then continue again. Images include use of smilies, the BB code [img] tag, and HTML tags. Re: [slim] wireless access denied
My SB3 classic did this a few months ago. I tried swapping the wireless card inside the unit with the wireless card from another known-good unit, but still no joy. I ended up running Cat5 from the loft and using the ethernet port. It detected the networks okay, but would never connect. My other two SB3 units, and the Boom, and my iPhone/iPad/laptop all connected fine, but this one unit would not connect (but had done so for many years). Re: [slim] ANN: Orange Squeeze 1.3.0 released!
It shows covers for tracks, yes. Not for folders, but that would also bear a lot of potential for bringing down the server the way music folders work so this is probably what you can expect.

Genre browsing works based on your "tags". If you have a look at the app in the Google Play store one of the first screenshots is the overview what can be "browsed". Another screenshot gives you a feeling of the album cover size (the one in portrait mode). Re: [slim] Announcement - ickStream open beta release on Squeezebox !
Great work. Installed ickStream and signed up TIDAL account today. Easy and streams perfectly. One question. Are the favourites displayed within LMS/ickSteam/TIDAL supposed to work? Artists Albums Favourite Playlists Tracks Saved Playlists Are they supposed to be synced with what I add on the webplayer or app? They don't seem to be for me; is it only synced upon restart of LMS? Can I add to them within LMS? Thanks! Hi, Can you, as requested, give us the output of ifconfig command for all 6 RPi's ? LMS recognizes players per unique MAC, for the moment it looks like all RPi's share the same MAC. This is something that should not be the case as the MAC is factory set per ethernet chip and is unique. thanks. does the all-black SB sound better than the white SB? hsmeets's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9716 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103316 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] BBC online radio fiasco - comments, news, moans, campaigns
Like lots of others I have been very confused by all this. While my original BBC4 saved Favorite did stop working with a lovely repeated message that "this shoutcast styream has been discontinued" or some such, I did find another stream which did work, but only sort of. On my Recievers it continually stuttered and rebuffered, on my Radio it worked better. However as of this morning live BBC4 is now streaming flawlessly again on both Radio and Reciever, so far, crossed fingers, I am using this stream : BBC Radio 4 93.5 (National News) with this url : http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s25419&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice&partnerId=16&serial=69ce8c6fb92d63334a07f7acae44d563 Nojelc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14353 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103311 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
