You might be on to something - I tried to switch the SB3 back to my other server by first switching it to MSB.com and I got a message about needing to reset my MAC address and to contact support. Also when I go to MSB.com and look at my players it shows an IP address for the MAC address. I'll give 'em a shout. Please compare MAC addresses as printed on the device with the one reported in the settings. For LMS on NAS I'd recommend WD Red drives in a RAID 5 configuration. The drives are quiet (way, way quieter than the Seagates I made the mistake of trying a few years ago), low power, and plenty fast enough for heavyweight music and HD video streaming. Plus RAID 5 gives you great read performance. If you were doing heavy writes then I'd go for RAID 0+1, but for most things read-related RAID 5 is great. And when you inevitably lose a drive you'll still be protected with no data loss. I use an SSD for my LMS database and I can scan 20,000 tracks for updates in less than 30s on a Celeron-powered LMS server with a gigabit connection to the NAS. [slim] SB Radio: Can IR port pass codes to Logitech Media Server?
I dunnow what forum this should go in so putting it here for now. Can the Squeezebox Radio pass IR codes back to Logitech Media Server? I'm thinking about replacing my SB3 with a Radio to power my whole-house audio. Most of the time i will be using Ipeng or the Duet Controller but I like being able to play around with custom keymap files etc. with some mini IR remotes I have laying around the house. For the SB3 I could set the logging on "(player.ir) - Infrared Activity & Map Parsing" to debug and see every IR code that the SB3 was receiving. From there I could create a custom keymap and do some custom actions. It seems that the Radio handles the IR itself and doesn't pass it along to LMS. I do know that the IR port is working because the remote that I have set to the JVC DVD codes does turn the volume up and down. Might be another one of these cases where someone with a spoofed MAC has the same player ID as you. On the Controller I now see Pandora on the home menu but no sign of it in iPeng. Also strange is that when I go to My Apps on the controller it tells me "This player is already registered to another user..." That's what I was thinking as well - but I just went through the (painful!) process of dropping it and re-adding it to my MSB.com account and that is working properly. Changes I make on MSB.com for the player work properly. I then connect the SB3 to my server and neither IPeng nor the Controller see the apps on it. I might fire up my old server and see if that makes any difference. The SB3 is probably not connected to your MySB account. Could it be that it's on a different account? OK - a little progress. I think my SB3 is the source of the problem here. I got one of the SB Radios up and running and got it to see the proper My Apps. I unplugged the SB3 from the network, selected the SB Radio as the player in Ipeng and then went into My Apps in Ipeng and the apps finally showed up. The Controller also works properly. I'm having a hard time getting the SB3 hooked back up to MSB.com - I'm sure that has something to do with the issue. The SB3 is just feeding analog audio to my whole-house audio and I have an extra Radio sitting around so I might just replace the SB3 and feed the whole-house amp with the headphone jack of the Radio. Please check whether you have correctly configured your MySqueezebox.com account in your server's settings. Also, please try to restart the server (only LMS, not the whole machine!!!) [slim] "My Apps" on Controller and Ipeng not Syncing / Updating - Triode Spotify related?
Hi - running pretty recent 7.9 server. Recently migrated everything to a new machine. On both my Controller and Ipeng I can't get "My Apps" to show anything. On Ipeng all I see is Facebook. On the Controller all I see is Spotify (Triode). I've tried adding and removing various apps (Pandora, Internet Music Archive) from both Mysqueezebox.com and from Ipeng. It adds the app because I can see it on both "My Apps" on Mysqueezebox.com and when I load the web interface to my server. Ipeng even asks me to add a shortcut and I can run the app on Ipeng no problem. But when I go to the "More" menu I don't see it under "My Apps" Any idea what I can try to force my controllers to sync the "My Apps" section? Do you think the Triode Spotify app (which kinda tricks "My Apps" into showing it, right?) is a factor here? These are all great suggestions. I have definitely used Pandora a lot in the past and I like Spotify's recommendations as well, but I am almost overwhelmed by how much there is out there. Its like i want my old local record store back where I can just go in and ask what's good and they can give me a couple of records that I can really get into. I am getting over the "if you liked this, you will also like this" recommendation engines. I guess I miss the human element. I have been working on this idea at www.boxsett.com (which I talked about in a thread a long time ago on here), but I am having a bit of trouble getting traction with labels (although I haven't tried too hard yet). I use Pandora (free account). If you seed a station with a few artists you like, it is very good at delivering other artists in the same vein. I've discovered quite a few artists/bands that were worth exploring. And Pandora is easily available on Squeezebox (although I generally create a new station and "seed" it using the Web interface). If you Scrobble, the last.fm recommended artists station can be good. I also go there and look at new releases every few weeks to see if there is anything I'm missing. The new releases under your profile will be tailored to artists you like and similar artists. There re is an iOS app called Band of the Day which has turned me on to some good stuff. Can't be played on you Squeezeboxes, though. I fire it up every few months and go through the history. You can usually listen to 3-5 tracks while reading a bio and such. When I do find a new artist I like, I listen to the similar artist station on Rhapsody, Last,fm, or Slacker. It it does seem harder and harder to find good new music Sigh. Rhapsody radio� What channel is it? No clue
I finally found a Rhapsody radio channel I liked But I have no clue what it is. I can't find any way to discover what channel is playing on the Squeezebox. I managed to get in added to favorites, but it shows in favorites as "add channel to favorites." Adding it to my Rhapsody library doesn't help because I had too many "want to try" channels saved there. Anyone know a way to figure out what Rhapsody channel is playing?
