Re: [slim] Boom on top of subwoofer - isolation needed ?

2016-06-05 Thread TomAmes

If it were me, I would try my best to separate the Boom from not only
vibration but heat. It should be relatively easy to tell if the Boom can
safely reside on top of this sub or not.

I use feet as above under my hard disks and TV recording boxes,it's very
good at damping the vibrations.

If I just want to stack stuff and stop it moving about I use this type
of material

agree about the nice GUI. In fact, I use SqueezePlay on my laptop as the
CONTROLLER for LMS that is running remotely on another computer. I
prefer it for most purposes rather than accessing the remote LMS with a
browser.

Good Point.

Thought squeezeplay because of nice gui to use locally but if he wants
remote only yes

agree. Except I'd install LMS with "local player plugin" (squeezelite)
instead of SqueezePlay, although it would work too. Then as Jeff says,
you can control from any web browser on any computer running on your
local network. Or use any LMS app on your android. No need for remote
desktop with this setup.

Re: [slim] Remote pc with dac being controlled by laptop/android

2016-06-05 Thread DJanGo

Hi,

why dint you share your library root directory on the PC and map/mount
that share onto your other pc?

On Windows use net share on the lib pc and net use on the other.
If your not using more than 10 clients at the same time you can handle
that with all "enduser" version of Winblows (for more than 10 you need a
Server Version)

[slim] Remote pc with dac being controlled by laptop/android

2016-06-05 Thread stevecross

Good day all. Long gone is my original squeezebox setup, I now have a
small pc with windows installed and my music stored on one drive. I have
been using remote desktop from my laptop to access the music on my small
pc and using windows media player, choosing my music and playing it back
via my small pc through my dac to my amp. Is there a way to install some
software on my remote pc and control this via my laptop without having
to keep remoting in. Any help please

Probably ok, the only thing in the Boom that could possibly be damaged
is the VFD display. And that's probably going to be ok considering the
years I had a VFD display in my car and had no issues.

[slim] Boom on top of subwoofer - isolation needed ?

2016-06-05 Thread swayzak

Hello

I recently purchased on of these for my kitchen Boom:

http://www.whathifi.com/yamaha/yst-fsw050/overview

I currently have the Boom positioned directly on top of the Yamaha - and
it sounds great.

However I'm concerned that this may not ne the best arrangement
audio-wise, and am also worried that the vibrations may damage the
precious Boom.

Can any advise ?

What is the material for sonically isolating the Boom from the woofer
eg. something to place underneath the Boom ?

Thanks

Touch x 2, Booms x 2, SqueezeCommander on Galaxy S3 (Duet Receiver
+ Controllers x 2 - semi-retired)
