I was wondering because I’ve seen a few auto volume change with my
plugin but don’t know why

Group Players is different from Syncoptions. It creates as many ‘virtual
players’ as you want and each virtual player can contain any number of
real players. A real player can be member of many different virtual
players. A virtual player is listed in your LMS players list like any
other. The syncgroup is created on the fly, when you start playing on
the virtual player and is broken when you stop.

So you don’t have any manual action to take to assemble the group, just
play on its virtual player. For example, at home, I have a virtual per
floor, one for the whole house and one for listening to podcast that
uses a subset of players on each floor.

You can also use the fact that virtual players can have alarms, bitrate
limitation, cross fading ...

I’ll stop the commercials here :)

2018-12-30 Thread soaringeagle

Thanks all for the replies,

@garym
- I'll try unsyncing the players. The only challenge being that it's
intermittent enough that it would be very time consuming to isolate
- Great idea about the logs. If I turn the paranoids up, it should be
easy to correlate the time

@drmatt
- Happens on multiple sources, local and streamed so I'm pretty sure
it's not an encoding problem.

@philippe_44
- The only Sync plugin I'm using is syncoptions. I haven't tried your
plugin philippe. I assume it does something similar to Syncoptions and
certainly seems to be more actively maintained?

Absolutely - I’m so embarrassed I did not mention @ralphy. In addition
to maintaining squeezelite and other key apps, he helped me tremendously
when I started to develop to LMS.

I’ve always liked my SB as a user but the support I received from
@mherger and @bpa when I tried to move to the dev side of it was
amazing. And helping a twice newbie was hard ;-)

I'm grateful to all mentioned - and especially Michael - and let me add
a small note of thanks to the various services who have stuck with the
platform despite the limited market. I still use Pandora, Classical
Radio and TuneIn all the time, and while it probably isn't much of an
investment on their part to stay on SB, the fact that they do it at all
pleases me.

The best and most flexible music streaming system is still Squeezebox.

You can buy more expensive, less functional equipment any time you want,
but I will stick with SB.

I'm approaching my fifth anniversary with LMS. (Got a UE Smart Radio for

Squeezebox Radio a week later.) After all this time, I'm still learning

there are more people who have helped to make it so than I can count. In

IIRC not easily - they used to use Flash AAC and then there will be
login etc on top of that - no API published. Needs a specialist plugin
and even then may not be possible.
