Correct.
Easy way to verify it ... disconnect your broadband connection and then
restart LMS.
You will probably get a few errors reported in the logs but it will
work.

Re: [slim] Plans if Logitech pulls the plug ?

2020-01-30 Thread chopinhauer

Can I ask a naive question. For someone like me who just uses my
squeezeboxes and LMS to stream music from a local server, isn't this
setup impervious so long as I have the hardware and LMS software plus
relevant plugins such as Airplay to feed my Liberatone Zipp. I
understand as technology and society move forward my system can't evolve
to take advantage of changes. But if Logitech pulls the plug surely at
least my current set up will still work. Correct?

[slim] Youtube search results "not available"

2020-01-30 Thread echable

If I search for YouTube videos and add search results to playlist, they
will often appear to start playing but with no sound. Counter runs and
total time is displayed. Sometimes, but not always, if I go to the
direct link in the official YouTube app, it will show the video but say
it's not available. So the LMS plugin somehow displays search results
that aren't playable. These tracks are mixtapes, often 3hrs÷ in length,
maybe that has something to do with it. Many other YouTube tracks play
just fine so there shouldn't be a problem with my setup. Thanks for any
help.

Absolutely. I would hope if Logitech plans to pull the plug, they could
give us a month to transition. That would be more than enough time to
migrate.

Good to know. Not the worst, though there are so many free BB scripts
out there.

If fit hit the shan and somebody got a database dump i'm sure it's not
that hard to migrate some of this data to an open source forum.

Re: [slim] Plans if Logitech pulls the plug ?

2020-01-30 Thread pablolie

Logitech has already pulled the plug, for the most part.

The biggest danger to the ecosystem will always be the loss of plugin
development. The Spotifys etc of the world keep evolving their API, and
eventually the ecosystem would be left only being able to play our home
libraries in a very static environment that ultimately would become
obsolete. I once thought I could freeze my environment at a stable old
release running on an old Ubuntu release, but that did prove unfeasible.
