I’ve been using iPeng, which I still love, but this thread has prompted
me to install the Material skin, and I’m really impressed with that as
well :)

[slim] is rsync available

2021-03-14 Thread wildgoose

I have a ssd hooked up directly to the rpi. One of the biggest
task/challenge is to sync the content of the ssd with my music archive
on the pc.

Is there a way to get rsync binaries on the picoreplayer? rsync should
be very lightweight, and I no longer need to install all the samba
packages.

Don't necessarily need to add GUI support for it in the UI, just make
the binary available.

Thanks!

If you are not on your computer, and you haven't installed the Material
skin, what web interface are you using? The default interface usually
doesn't work well on mobile devices.

There are ways to automate the process of restarting via ssh. For
instance, a utility called Mercury-SSH Commander can be installed on
Android phones. But that may feel like overkill, too.

LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. Mostly virtual players,
occasionally with SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

Yes, that does the trick. Thanks! Although I can't help but feel it
would still be a nice addition to the server settings, it definitely
addresses my issues (the biggest being that I frequently edit the perl
files in VSCode from a remote share and restart LMS).

Yes, but for the desk, like others here mentioned, this could be a good

But you can tell her to play So by Peter Gabriel if that comes to mind.
Or Far from the Maddening Crowds by Chicane. Or...

Voice is not a perusal paradigm. You know what you want? Ask for it. No
clue? Have a think or consult a source of inspiration. Which certainly
can be a touchscreen. But then you’d skip using voice to select and just
use the paradigm at hand.

Re: [slim] RasPI with Display compared to iPad

2021-03-14 Thread d6jg

Back to the original topic.
In the attached picture I’m playing Sunday morning Jazz which I’m
controlling with Material on my iPhone.

The small screen to left of centre speaker is an o2 Joggler. It’s really
a now playing screen but here I have it also displayed on TV.

How? There are 2 players. A Pi with Khadas Tone Board that’s doing the
playing via my AVR in 2.0 direct mode.
IPeng on my iPhone is synced with this player and sending the output via
AirPlay to the TV with sound off.

Why not just use Airplay? The sound is awful compared to the Pi + Khadas
which is awesome.

Why not use Phillipe’s Airplay bridge? I could but the Airplay
implementation on the LG TV doesn’t show time bar and I rather like
that.

But having told Alexa to play Abacab by Genesis you can’t tell her to
browse your library for something suitable to play afterwards. Like most
women her knowledge of popular music from 1950s to date seems to be
wanting in many areas. Prog rock being a significant lacking :)
