Re: [slim] Spontaneous volume reduction
I too have been using Material but I cant see that being the cause BUT when my player went to zero I didnt notice the fact in Material for some while. I clicked pause, I clicked play, I powered my amp off and on and did a fair bit more head scratching before I noticed 0% in Material. As a bi product of this do you guys think it would be a good upgrade of material to show 0% with a red background or something if the player is playing? d6jg wrote: > I asked about other players as I have seen it when using a upnp player > and switching back to a Pi Ah, ok - I don't have any upnp players. My two pCPs both have the latest Squeezelite which I believe was released to fix an issue with inverted audio and the new balance control. I'm using neither of those options, and I believe my volume problem pre-dates that new version of Squeezelite. For completeness, neither of the Pis is actually audible, since I've temporarily switched inputs on my main amp to use the DAC32, and the other one plays through the TV only if I'm on the right channel. But both instances of Squeezelite are 'on' and synced. Wracking my brain for other 'new' things that might be responsible. I'm loathe to fling any more wild accusations around, as I may have done with the DAC32 (given that @the_arm doesn't have one)! I've had an Echo dot running philchillbill's Alexa skills for a while now, but the problem started quite a long time after I first started using that. And I'm pretty sure I haven't been inadvertently operating the volume buttons on my iPhone that has iPeng running in the background (and I've been using iPeng for so long that this new problem is not likely to have anything to do with it). chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114230 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Spontaneous volume reduction
Wow, hey, I've been noticing the same thing! I have a sync group consisting of one SB Touch, one SB Radio, and one SB Duet-Receiver. It's always the SB Touch that is spontaneously at 0 volume. It's never happened to me during playback but it just seems that randomly I'll come back to the group, hit play, and two players "work" and the touch is at zero volume. I try to keep everything up to date and it's a relatively recent phenomenon. I do use Material skin, and I have an android tablet (actually a kindle fire) that is more or less permanently running the android material app (sideloaded) with the SB Touch selected as what's being displayed/controlled in the group. I had recently power cycled the Touch hoping that would fix it (it didn't) and was next going to just power off the tablet for a while to see if that had anything to do with it? It doesn't seem likely though since I've been running that app for quite some time and it pre-dates this phenomenon. I'm running LMS on a mac on Mojave. Re: [slim] (Vaguely) Audiophile alternative to Transporter and SB+?
In my Living Room HiFi I have a Pi4 with a Khadas Tone Board. The latter is a highly respected USB DAC capable of 32bit etc far beyond anything you can currently throw at it. The Pi runs piCorePlayer and they are in expensive WAF cases. I consider this player to be about as good as you can get for a Pi + USB DAC arrangement. I put it against a newly acquired DAC32. Yes the Khadas Tone Board is better but its very very close. The Pi plus Tone Board and cases came to about £230. The DAC32 is £65. [slim] Spontaneous volume reduction
For a week or two now I've been experiencing my synced players spontaneously going quiet without me apparently doing anything. I can't put my finger on what's causing it. I have a niggling feeling it's something to do with the DAC32, because it's part of the sync group that's experiencing the volume reductions, and whenever it happens I see that the DAC32's volume has reduced to zero, while other players that may have been louder to start with still have a non-zero volume. It could also be related to the fact that I started listening to Greatest Hits radio more frequently. Or it could have been an LMS update (currently on Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 - 1614413430). I've checked the obvious things that I can think of - I'm not using any volume adjustment, and the synced players don't have synced volume. So I'll obviously have to do some trouble-shooting, but I wondered whether anyone else was experiencing similar. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114230 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] (Vaguely) Audiophile alternative to Transporter and SB+?
Hello. If anyone can help me I'd be grateful. I'm recreating a hifi I sold 15 years ago when I moved into a building site. I have a problem with the front end though. I used to use a @-tunes modified SB3 called an SB+ which was good. I also had a Transporter but did not get along with it. So I'm looking for suggestions for a high quality front end. I have wondered if there's a company that makes top-end audio adaptions of the raspberry pi but am basically open to any suggestions. For anyone who might be interested this is the system I'm re-building. Speakers: Shahinian Arcs Amp: Naim NAP180 PSU: HiCap Pre-amp: NAC102 You might think my obvious choice of front end was the Naim NDS or NDX but I prefer the Squeezebox ecosystem and these two items are silly money (and you still need to buy power supply!). Thanks for any suggestions. For accessing the Synology NAS - see https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/add_network_share/ If it does not work after going through those steps then include some screenshots to show what you have. For the others ... It could be a temporary networking issue ... or it could be that the plugin developer made a mistake in the configuration the something (but then everyone would see the same problem) ... or you are using a custom repo rather than the official unofficial list from LMS and it has an issue. So - how are things configured in your Settings/Plugins ? [slim] Spotty and file format naming for music stored on Synology nas
The usual apologies for asking what I am sure to others appear to be basic questions. I have been a very grateful user of LMS for a number of years but with very much a "fit and forget attitude" unless things start to go wrong. Previously I had LMS running on my nas and my music files are also stored there, so while I can't remember precisely how I directed the server to the music is seemed to work. Very recently LMS on the Synology has stopped working so I have had to rethink. I have got picoreplayer on one of my Pi's (version 4) so I added LMS to that pi which previously only ran the squeezeplayer. So far so good but I have been trying to access my music still stored on the Synology and have failed miserably. I have tried to complete the mount settings on the pCp page - giving a name to the folder (I have tried randomly Diskstation, Music etc assuming that it did not really matter so long as I recognised it. I have put the ip address of the Synology in and using nfs I have put the folder address as /volume1/music - the music is stored in sub-folders under that. When I try to mount I get a disk mount error and it suggests I try to reboot. I have done that several times without any success. Some help would be very much appreciated. A second problem has arisen. I have over the years accessed BBC Radio 3 through the iPlayer and also Spotify through Spotty add-ons. I realised that the iPlayer has now been replaced by BBC Sounds and I successfully added that plug in. However that has joined Spotify as a problem. When I tried to add Spotify add on when pressing apply a message with a new tick box appeared saying that there was a newer version. However if I ignore that message and restart the plug in has not worked. The same applies if I try to restart later and click the newer version. It doesn't add on. Now I am getting the same message for BBC sounds - a newer version is available but the result is that neither now seems to work. Sorry I all the above is a bit garbled but the net effect is that I cannot get my music folders, cannot load Radio 3 from BBC sounds and cannot get Spotify. All this from a system that worked pretty well for years in not much more than 24 hours. Very frustrating. crrc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66599 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114223 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
