Re: [slim] Email updates on subscribed threads
Redrum, I checked everything under Settings and Profile but everything seems OK. Email is correct, subscriptions set, Instantly via email, everyone can send/receive emails/PMs et al. If I go into Profile I can see all of the posts that I believe should have been sent to my email as notifications. If I gather up the energy I will try creating a new profile and see what that might do. Re: [slim] Email updates on subscribed threads
I seldom use my yahoo account. My regular account is a verizon email address that is now handled by aol mail. The email clients I use are outlook and bluemail (android). I was losing some mail and I could not find it in the spam/junk folders of outlook or bluemail, so I logged into aol mail and there is was. You have to track it down, step by step, either forward or back. That's why I suggested that you try a iphone/android app, or tablet app with something other than thunderbird. If you aren't getting it on anything, take the next step, as kidstypike suggested, look in yahoo mail. The other thing to check is with ATT your isp. There might be a layer of "protection" there that you are not aware of. After all, they are accepting your $ to provide you with internet and your email right? You should be getting what you are paying for. Good luck, Jim Redrum, Since I am with ATT I am stuck with Yahoo Mail. I finally did look at an old android phone, not with any phone service, and an old android tablet that I keep plugged in for charging. The tablet has the Google (?) email client while the phone has Google and Bluemail. Although I use POP3 on my computers the phone and tablet are using imap servers. But neither the phone nor the tablet had any PMs or notifications from the forum. The Yahoo Mail site has no PMs, except for the first one that you sent and was only found on the Yahoo Mail site, or notifications. And as I mentioned earlier ATT knows nothing about email. I am giving up on this since it is an irritation and not a serious problem. But in Thunderbird there is a settings page that allows spam to be rerouted to any folder that you want; I had not activated it but now have it, supposedly, sending spam to my inbox. The PM message that I did receive when I logged into Yahoo Mail was in the inbox and not the spam/junk folder. No, I did not find any of the older notifications that I should have received in the spam folder in Yahoo Mail either. The only recent message that I received was your PM in my Yahoo Mail inbox. Now that I have changed the Thunderbird spam setting could you, and any others reading this post, please try sending me some PMs. I have always found Yahoo Mail to be flaky but that is what ATT uses. One interesting item is that when I started with ATT a couple of years ago it was out of necessity because I can only afford phone line DSL and ATT is the only ISP left serving my area. And when I was setting up my email I talked to ATT and 3 different customer reps kept giving me incorrect email server addresses. I finally found the correct/working email servers through a serious search online. Hopefully I can get things working but it is really not all that important in the long run. It is just an irritant to have to go into the Slimdevices forum just to check for responses. And since I am in my mid 70s I have become more and more irritable which is both good and bad! bakker_be, After reading your message I found 2 interesting things. The first was that when I went into "Settings" and looked at my subscriptions there was only one showing; looking manually in the different forums showed, with the green circle indicator, that I am currently subscribed to 3 threads. But when I hit the button to show "all subscribed threads" I received a long list from when I first enrolled on this forum which includes the 3 current subscriptions. Does the current subscription list have a short expiration time or require a reply in a specified time? I also found the check boxes at the end of the listed subscriptions. None were checked so I checked the 3 current subscriptions and will now wait to see what happens. [slim] SB2/3 remote control up/down button function
Everyone, I currently use SB2/3s with both the old style Slimdevices remote and the newer "candy bar" Logitech remote. Recently I "lost" my SDT screensaver display. I made online searches, checked LMS settings and did much fiddling with the buttons on the remote. I finally found that, with the SB off, pushing the up or down button of the remote brought the SDT display back. GREAT, I had my screensaver back!! But I have a question. I also found that if I pressed the up or down button multiple times, 8 to be exact, that I would get 4 lit displays and 4 blank screens; interestingly, while 3 of the lit displays were the same 1 display had different sunrise/sunset times and rain chance percentage. So I have a question. What is the screen displaying when I am pressing the up/down remote key when the SB is turned off? Does anyone know? [slim] Tunein vs Rado OSD display on SB2
Gentlemen/Ladies, I am not sure if I should be post here or in the LMS forum. My primary use of the SB2 is to access radio stations from around the world; every now and then I will use it to play music or audio books. When I start my SB2 I get the menu that allows me to select a function. In Settings I have had Radio as the first/default selection which is what I used. But I have recently had problems with rebuffering of stations, even my local NPR station, and was looking for a solution. When I went to go to mysqueezebox.com I found that there was a TuneIn selection, I had set up TuneIn in settings and set favorites at the TuneIn site, so I have tried it and it does not have the same buffering problems that Radio has. My question concerns the position of TuneIn in the menu. Radio can be moved in the settings menu but I have found nowhere to move TuneIn so that it appears as the first menu selection onscreen; it appears about midway in the onscreen menu so that when I start up my SB2 I have to scroll down to find it. Is there a way to reposition TuneIn on the menu so that it is the default opening selection on the menu? And why the rebuffering problem with the Radio selection but none with TuneIn? Re: [slim] SB2 showing 3 different MAC addresses
mherger, It is good to hear that TuneIn will work without mysb.com. I, and many others, have wondered what will happen when Logitech stops mysb.com. I do use Windows 7 on all of my computers. But I did just receive an old Asus TF700T tablet with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) on it. I am currently learning how to root it and install a custom rom, Android 7 (Nougat), into it. I really do not have any problems with my SBs. They are working as they have always worked. My problem is that it bothers me that mysb.com does not see the SB2 that I deleted. A couple of months ago I changed ISPs and email addresses. At that time I was having a problem with my other SB2 and mysb.com and it was suggested that maybe there was still an account under the old email/password. I tried the old email/password but they were not recognized by mysb.com. I contacted you concerning that problem and you fixed it But then yesterday, when looking in this forum, I found a PM from you indicating that I might have multiple accounts. Evidently my profile settings do not send a notification when I receive PMs but do send emails to let me know that a message has been added to a thread. I PMed you concerning your PM but did not hear back. Do you know if I have multiple mysb.com accounts and is this why the deleted SB2 is not showing in the account that I know about and use? I sent a reply asking about the multiple accounts that I know nothing about. He has not replied. I found the MAC address and changed it to agree with the sticker on the SB2. The correct MAC address now shows up in LMS. But the MAC address on the mysqueezebox.com website is still incorrect. And it is odd since it looks like an ip address since it has 4 three digit numbers rather than 6 two digit characters. Is there a way to change the mysqueezebox.com MAC address to agree with the SB2 MAC address? And should I worry that the server.prefs file shows the correct and the old MAC addresses for the SB2 in _client lines in the file? Re: [slim] SB2 showing 3 different MAC addresses
I have tried the factory and xilinx reset with no luck. What is the left arrow and firmware menu that you mentioned? Where do I do this? In the SB2, LMS or elsewhere? And, besides the MAC on the SB2 itself, I have the two additional MAC addresses shown in LMS and mysqueezebox.com. I do not have any problems with the SB2 beyond the odd MAC addresses. The SB2 works fine for what I use it for; I primarily use it to stream radio stations using Tunein. [slim] SB2 showing 3 different MAC addresses
I have 2 SB2s installed that I have been using for many years. Recently I changed ISPs, and email addresses, and have had problems. I was able to correct 2 problems but have discovered another. One of my SB2s shows 3 different MAC addresses; 1 on the SB2, 1 on the LMS Information tab and 1 on the mysqueezebox.com website. Also, when I look at the server.prefs I find the LMS and mysqueezebox.com MAC addresses listed along with the MAC address for my other SB2. Both SB2s seem to be working properly but I use them mainly to listen to streaming radio stations from around the world. Any suggestions as to what should be done to fix the problem? Or is this a case for mherger since it involves MAC addresses? Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
To all, I finally have my SB2 displaying the SuperDateTime screensaver again. Thanks to JJZolx and his instructions concerning the prefs file! It made me think of copying a new/old set of prefs, cache and log directories to the Squeezebox installation directory; I rarely make changes to LMS on my computers except to install the nightly updates. Since the problem started just a few weeks ago I extracted the necessary directories from a months old backup; I do somewhat regular backups of my computers. And voila I now have a properly working screensaver!! Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
Mr. Herger, As mentioned in earlier messages I did try changing the brightness setting when the SB was off. It had no effect except once when the SB happened to be getting an update and the update asterisk, only, was visible; the asterisk changed brightness as I hit the remote brightness button until the update finished and the asterisk went out. I have also tried the default Date and Time screensaver and it does show up. If I switch to mysqueezebox.com I also get the default screensaver. When I turn the SB on I also get all of the normal displays and it works normally. When the problem started I first thought that the screen was damaged but it is working except for the missing SDT screensaver. But I am still wondering why my second SB does not have the problem and displays SDT as it should even though the SDT settings for both players in LMS are the same. JJZolx, In your first message you made it sound like a complete redo. I will definitely try your suggestions if mherger cannot help. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
JJZolx, I have the information that you indicated and am ready to go. However, as you indicated, this is pretty much a complete redo of LMS which I am trying to avoid. I am going to wait for mherger to look at the log file that I sent to him and see what he has to say. If he has no suggestions then I will try your ideas if only to see what happens. I am almost resigned to a full uninstall/install. Sir, I had never looked at an LMS log file until just now. And that is no help to me; there are many errors indicated but they mean nothing to me. If you want to look at it let me know how to attach it to a message since I have no idea as to how to do that. Also let know how much of it you would want to see. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
Thanks for the suggestion. I had tried that before I got back my second SB2 in mysqueezebox.com with no luck. But since you mentioned it I tried again just in case something had changed when I got the second SB2 back. It did not bring back the screensaver but it just happened that the SB2 was doing an update while I was checking. I could tell there was an update happening because when I pushed the brightness button a few times I could see the update asterisk and it was changing brightness each time that I pushed the button. Then the update was over and the asterisk was gone. More mystery thrown into the mix. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
karlek, Sorry for the slow reply but I could not log in and had to contact the administrator to get on. I do not know why I did not think of using my old email. Perhaps it is because I am an old geezer with memory problems. But that solution does not help. At first, with my poor memory, I tried to guess which email/password I was using before the switch of ISPs. No luck so I finally looked at one of my old backup files. One of my guesses had been correct but does not work. So I am back to waiting for Logitech support to fix my problem and email me. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
Perhaps another link to my problem. About 2 months ago I changed ISPs and email addresses. I had gone into mysqueezebox.com and changed the email address there and then changed it in LMS. I had not checked on the SBs shown at the mysqueezebox.com until today and found that only one of my SB2s is shown; it is the SB2 that does not have the screensaver problem. But the SB2 with the blank screen problem does not show up at the mysqueezebox.com website even though I can access mysqueezebox.com on it. I have sent an email to mysqeezebox.com support to see if they can help correct the problem. I am hoping that if they can correct the problem then it might fix my screen problem. One can only hope. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
The blank screen saga continues. Another thing that I found is that if I stop LMS the "Blank" unit screen stays blank but the second unit shows an error message on the screen indicating that the server cannot be found. So it does not look as though SDT is the problem but has something to do with the screen when the "Blank" SB is turned off. Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
I tried reinstalling SDT with no luck. But I found two more things. I can change the second SB back and forth between SDT and DateTime while the "Blank" SB is not affected when I change the screensaver. But I have found that, if I start the "Blank" SB, go into mysqueezebox.com and then back into LMS, the DateTime screensaver will appear on the display even though SDT is selected in the settings. This is good but I am somewhat anal and it bothers me when I cannot get things to work as they should. But I might have to bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall LMS! Re: [slim] Blank screen when turned off
In the Web Control the SuperDateTime settings are not in the Basic setting tab. They are in the Player and Advanced tabs. The Player tab is broken into, on my setup, two different settings page which is one for each player. As far as I can see both of the SuperDateTime settings are the same. The Advanced tab only offers a single setting page. One thing that I have discovered is that if I change the designated screensaver to the default(?) DateTime screensaver it works and show up on the screen of the "blank" unit when turned off. It seems to be SuperDateTime that is causing a problem. My next move is to replace the existing SuperDateTime. I will let you know if it helps. [slim] Blank screen when turned off
I use two Squeezebox 2s with LMS on Windows 7; I am currently using the latest nightly 7.9. I recently had a problem with getting into the Web Control but that problem was fixed when I reinstalled Firefox. But I am now having another problem with the SB2s. Both will turn on and work normally. However when both are turned off one shows the assigned SuperDateTime screensaver but the other is blank; when the "blank" SB2 is turned on all of the screens work normally. I have checked the display settings for both units in the LMS settings area and, as far as I can tell, they are identical. I have also tried installing other LMS versions over the existing installation which did not help. Any suggestions other than reinstalling LMS from scratch? [slim] Web Control
Madam/Sir, I have been using my SB 2 and 3s for almost 15 years but have rarely had to ask questions. As a matter of fact I had lost my old registration information and had to register anew just to access the site. I have been having problems with my Samsung N120 netbook that I use to stream to my SB 2 and 3s; it has been running 24/7 for about 5 years so it might be ready to quit. To get back to a semblance of usability I had to do a recovery from early 2017. I had been using LMS then but immediately updated to the latest nightly LMS; I know that I am somewhat anal about having the latest updates. But when I did that the screen on my SB2s went blank although I can turn them on and use them as normal. However the menu is different also. When I tried to get into the Web Control to see what might be happening I get the error that it has no file association and cannot be loaded. HELP!!
