There is an old plugin named KidsPlay. Room measurement with REW takes a while to get the hang of and a lifetime to master. However, the lifetime part really is all about DRC being complicated in itself. I haven't actually used AudioLense or Accourate, but I'm always suspicious of black box solutions, especially when it comes to the darker arts. That's why I chose REW over the others. I can really recommend it. Getting a decent result is actually not _that_ hard nor time-consuming. If you'd want to get started, you'd always need a calibrated microphone and a suitable soundcard. Can't avoid that. It doesn't have to cost more than say 250 in total, including a few cables (Nordost is not required). The benefit DRC gives is worth much more, at least when room treatments are no-nos. According to post #1026, the BruteFIR package v1.0k is already in the CSOS. I have not yet seen that anyone has actually tested it (perhaps I should quit stalling and get myself a WB). BTW, there's now a new version, v1.0m, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~torger/brutefir.html#news If it's fast enough, I guess that would mean that the plugin BrutefirDrc, which uses BruteFIR, would work too. The following discussion seems to indicate that it's possible to compile BruteFIR on an ARM platform, although the assembler optimizations obviously are of no use. As I don't own an ARM computer, I have not tried compiling it, so I don't know if this is possible and easy enough. Also, I don't know if the lack of proper optimizations makes is useless. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cubieboard/i1tsSPoCXdo Gandhi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58909 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
If the on-chip DSP is not powerful enough but the Wandboard in itself is, it could be very useful to include the LMS plugin BruteFirDrc, http://sourceforge.net/projects/brutefirdrc/?source=directory, in the distribution at some future time. BruteFirDrc uses the convolution engine BruteFIR, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~torger/brutefir.html, which is highly optimized for speed. If included and preconfigured, it would be very easy to use. Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
(First time poster, loong time lurker.) My thanks to all involved for a great and very promising initiative! I think the following premature detail would be useful for many of us Squeeople: an output for a power on/off signal to control an amplifier, perhaps just a +5V or +12V output when "on", for use with for instance a solid state relay. A headphones out jack could be used instead together with an applet or plugin like PowerSwitchII (which I use), but I believe it's better not to hinder normal use of headphones.
