Re: [slim] Tidal v1.2 Plugins stopped working - are there alternatives ?
Michael, After digging around it seems that Roon might provide an alternative connection between Tidal and Squeezebox Touch. But, assuming Tidal via Roon would actually work, this approach would require a paid subscription to both Roon and Tidal. For now I am happy with Tidal via mysqueezebox.com and will continue using that. Thanks again. Re: [slim] Tidal v1.2 Plugins stopped working - are there alternatives ?
My connection to Tidal has been working properly the last few days. Michael, as you suggest, apparently there was some intermittent problem somewhere in the connection between Tidal and my LAN. Thanks for your help. I am wondering, though, about the following two things. You state that the connection between Tidal and my Touch is direct, i.e., that the stream does not pass through mysqueezebox.com. So my questions are: 1) What does mysqueezebox.com actually do? Does it just set up the connection? 2) Is there software available that replaces or augments LMS that allows for a direct connection between Tidal and my Touch that does not involve mysqueezebox.com? The reason I ask #2 is that, while I am very happy with the way things are working now, I live in fear that Logitech will someday discontinue mysqueezebox.com. I own a total of 8 Touch's deployed in 3 different LANs that I would love to keep connected to Tidal even if mysqueezebox.com goes away. My players are Squeezebox Touchs, and I am using LMS. My intermittent problem with Tidal experienced during the last two days has, for the moment, gone away. I did the following two things. First, 1a) From LMS -> Open Web Control -> Settings -> Player -> Audio, I changed Streaming Method from Direct Streaming to Proxied Streaming 1b) From LMS -> Open Web Control -> Settings -> Advanced -> Network, I increased Radio Station Buffer Seconds from 3 to 30. When I tried 1a and 1b separately, I still had the problem with intermittent drop-outs. But then I tried them together, and the drop-outs seemed to go away. (After each change, I rebooted the machined running LMS, re-started LMS, and power cycled the SBT, just to make sure that changes were "sticking.") Next, I wanted to verify that (1a + 1b) were actually responsible for fixing things. After all, with intermittent problems it can be hard to tell if your recent changes are actually the solution, or if something else causing the intermittent problem has secretly gone away. So the next thing I did was, 2a) Change from Proxied Streaming back to Direct Streaming 2b) Change Radio Station Buffer Seconds from 30 back to 3. To my surprise, Tidal is still working without drop-outs, even after (2a + 2b), even though this returns the settings to their original state. What do you make of all this? Do you think that changes (1a + 1b) triggered something somewhere that actually fixed the problem? Or do you think that an intermittent problem at Tidal, or in my Internet connection, just happened to go away while I was doing these experiments? Intermittent problems can be a challenge. Thanks again. Re: [slim] Tidal v1.2 Plugins stopped working - are there alternatives ?
I don't know if this is a related problem or not, but starting on on 5/13/2020 my Tidal app started having troubles. I have multiple Squeezebox Touchs, and Tidal was working flawlessly on all of them since I started using the app about 1 month ago. But now, suddenly, I am receiving intermittent music interruptions when listening to Tidal on all of my players. When I look at the Touch screen I see that these drop-outs are associated with re-buffering attempts. All of the players are connected via Ethernet, and there has been no change to my network or Internet service. I suspect the problem is in mysqueezebox.com, because from the Touch menu Settings -> Advanced -> Diagnostics ->Server Info, I see that the IP address for mysqueezebox.com keeps changing every few seconds. Perhaps this is normal but it seems odd, and I suspect that this is related somehow to the problem. I can stream Tidal straight to my phone on the same network, which does not prove anything, but probably indicates that Tidal is alive and well. Anyone know what is going on?
