Re: [slim] Rhapsody stopped working No content found for this request.

2009-11-11 Thread Mark W

Rhapsody reported in their forum that their streaming service was down
for a period of time today. They also reported that they've repaired
whatever it was.

Re: [slim] Problem with Napster - 'can't open file'

2009-11-07 Thread Mark W

Hi Welwyn- Did you ever figure this out? I signed up for Napster today
and am seeing the same thing. I can play a song via the Napster web
app, but when I try to play the same song through the squeezebox I get
the can't open file message on the Duet controller and
unresponsiveness on the web interface...

Thanks...

I found that the Napster plugin wasn't active in squeezebox server...
now all is well.

Re: [slim] Volume Sync of Multiple Players?

2009-10-11 Thread Mark W

I tried the volume sync feature, and it's OK, but I was expecting
something more like what Sonos demonstrates on one of their web site
videos. There, you can adjust a master volume control and all of the
receiver's volumes are adjusted up and down from where they are
originally set.

Instead, the current sync volume feature sets the receiver volumes to
the same setting, which is then adjusted up and down. This results in
one or the other receiver being too loud or soft (e.g. Boom vs SBR
connected to stereo).

Is there any plan to convert the receiver volume sync to something more
like what I described above? Or is there a third party plug-in out
there somewhere?

Re: [slim] Volume rises very slowly since upgrade

2009-10-11 Thread Mark W

Yes, there was a bug that was referenced in another thread where the
controller slowed down as a function of how long it is on due to some SW
problem. The scrolling is also affected. This was fixed about last
week in 7.4.1. I've been running 7.4.1, and the problem is indeed
fixed, and it seems to be pretty stable overall.

A way to test if this is your problem is to cycle power on the
controller. If the volume responds normally after the restart, then
switching to 7.4.1 will fix your problem.

[slim] Volume Sync of Multiple Players?

2009-10-10 Thread Mark W

Does anyone know the latest state of the ability to synchronize volume
control between multiple players? I'm using 7.4, and have poked around
a bit but haven't found anything that looks like volume sync.

It would be great to be able to control the volume of all synced
players together at once. Is it a feature or planned future feature?

Thanks...

Re: [slim] Is the latest 7.4 beta close enough?

2009-09-27 Thread Mark W

I've been using 7.4 for about a week and it seems to work very well. I
had to sign back up for the services via the controller as the
mysqueezebox page wasn't working properly, but other than that I haven't
had major problems.

Also, in general, I like the changes to the controller operation and
appearance quite a lot compared to the older versions. It's more
intuitive to use and looks much more polished. I don't think it looks
drab or ugly at all.

[slim] Rhapsody's working prety well

2009-09-25 Thread Mark W

I listen to Rhapsody a lot (practically every day) via two Duet
receivers and a Boom, and have recently noticed that I can't remember
the last time I've had trouble with wierd behavior, dropouts, or hangs.
This has been the case with both squeezecenter 7.3.4, and now more
recenty with 7.4. Thanks to everyone at Squeezebox for improving the
Rhapsody experience... it's been a real joy lately. By the way, the
Duet graphics with 7.4 are really cool...

[slim] Netbook

2009-08-10 Thread Mark W

I have a desk top PC at home running squeezecenter with a Duet and a
Boom. I just got a netbook (ASUS H1005) mainly for travel use and was
wondering if/how I could use it to access squeezenetwork or my
squeezecenter from the road. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: [slim] Losing album art with Rhapsody

2009-02-04 Thread Mark W

I'm still seeing the album art randomly disappear on the controller when
using Rhapsody. Cycling power always makes the album art reappear.
I've seen this on both 7.3.2 and now 7.3.3. I haven't been able to pin
down the exact circumstances where it happens but it seems to happen
almost every time I use it lately. Is anyone else seeing this? Does
anyone know if a bug's been filed or is there a setting that I'm
missing? Any suggestions to help troubleshoot?

Thanks...

Re: [slim] Best bang for buck with Music Services

2008-12-02 Thread Mark W

Rhapsody is an undescribable feast for music lovers and an excellent
value. I agree with kh6idf, if you like music, once you try it for 30
days you won't be able to stop. The other feature I love, is with the
To Go Account, you can load your MP3 player for when your not at home.
It's not without its problems though. It periodically glitches when
playing on the Duet and more frequently than you'd like, their servers
go down. But the pluses far outweigh the minuses in my opinion...

Re: [slim] Best bang for buck with Music Services

2008-12-02 Thread Mark W

Yes, there have been problems with Rhapsody, mostly connection problems
due to their servers going down and the way they process accounts- I
think. I also have a Pandora account that is much cheaper ($3 vs $15
per month), it's much more reliable, and I like it's ability to zero in
on what you like for music.

But, I just really like having access to all of the music directly
(like listening to an album...), and the ability to load it into my MP3
player. So, I would say that if you want to have just one music service
with very high reliability, and very low cost, Rhapsody isn't there yet.
But it still has so much going for it that I'm willing to put up with
the problems for now, and hope that they'll become more stable over
time...

Re: [slim] General question(s) on Rhapsody

2008-09-08 Thread Mark W

The Rhapsody to Go tracks will last for 30 days on your portable MP3
player before they expire. The timer is reset whenever you reconnect
the player to your computer with the Rhapsody player application
running.

I've been using Rhapsody to Go with a Sandisk e280 for about a year
now. It works very well, and I'm listening to much more music now than
I ever have before. The sound is great, although I'm using in-the-ear
headphones from Sony that sound much better than the ones that came
with the unit (although they weren't expensive ~ $35).

The Rhapsody to go account also let's you listen to Rhapsody via
Squeezeboxs. I listen to Rhapsody at home through Squeezenetwork using
SB Duet with two Receivers connected to two different audio systems and
it's surprising how good it sounds (to my 50 yr old ears anyway...).

[slim] Controller Display Problem?

2008-09-08 Thread Mark W

I've had a Duet since March and over the last several weeks, I've
started seeing a 1/4 inch white line on the lower left bottom edge of
the screen. It's there in all menus, all the time, but it's not there
during the start up screens or during a screen selftest. Does anyone
else see this or is this perhaps a hardware problem with my controller?
