Re: [slim] Apps not working after power restored following an outage
If you have not rebooted your LMS machine since it restarted automatically when the power came back then that is probably the easiest thing to do. I didn't get to try it from the N770 but I could see that it still had a bookmark set to access it with an IP address of my Windows machine ... from when I used to run LMS in Windows ... so I suspect I might still have the Nokia770 skin on that system if I migrated machines by copying all of the data. Re: [slim] Darko Audio's recent video tribute to the Squeezebox (GOAT)
My Controller is starting to play up - I suspect the battery is coming towards end of its life. It gets used most days to control a SqueezeAMP in the kitchen which is also controlled by 2 Jogglers (at opposite ends of the room). SB2 used every morning and many evenings - screen still good but I think that is because I have screensaver set to blank it after 30 seconds, even when playing. Openpeak2 (Joggler in a bigger case and with 2 front facing speakers) sits in the bathroom and is used every day. Joggler on my desk, connected by USB to a Behringer mixer and then to HiFi Amp is probably the most used. I just put LMS on an old RPi1 to ship to a family member who currently uses a Squeezebox Radio with MySqueezebox. The LMS is to keep him running when BBC switches of Shoutcast streams next year ... hopefully they will not kill off opensource use of BBC Sounds API at the same time. Another family member is waiting for their shipping container to arrive having just changed country ... in it is their LMS on a RPi, Joggler and 2 AirPlay devices they they were using in UK ... A new SqueezeAMP from the next batch is destined for them to add to their set as they have more rooms in their new place. Grandson has a Joggler in his bedroom that connects to LMS on an old RPi 1 powered by USB socket on their router. They gave me back their SB2 (that was connected to a DJ mixing desk) because it stopped working ... turns out it was just the power supply that was faulty so it will be making the return trip soon with a replacement power brick. Another family member has another of my my old RPi with original IQaudio HAT plus 3 Jogglers - one with USB connection to good small B&W speakers and another to a mini HiFi and another in a bedroom using the built-in speaker. I love it. Thanks. That is a lot better than I was seeing from their raw data. I'll include a few of their stations in the next beta build so people in Canada can determine if it is worth adding all 50 or so of them. In that case - I suggest going back to 8.3 and generate logs again. I say this because Persistent plugin is removed for 8.3 and equivalent code is now in the 8.3 base. [slim] Rogers radio stations in Canada
I have something working to show song/programme information from Rogers stations in Canada. However, they are geo-locked so testing is difficult. I suspect that their song information is a few minutes (as many as 15-30) behind the real time ... which, if correct, would make it useless. I was suggesting the connection between the SB3 and the speakers is where the problem might lie. I think that the browser JavaScript updates the progress bar using a timer and periodically asks LMS where it should be. Do you have any lower bitrate local files to try with? Also - in the first post you said that there were no problems with BBC Sounds but in the reply you said that there are problems with it. You said that the ghost tag(s) was not there when you set LMS to scan an empty system. Did you try scanning a system with just one album? I suspect not. So it does appear to be coming from a file that the scanner is scanning. Squeezebox Radio launched in 2001 and stopped manufacturing in 2012. The UE Smart Radio launched in 2012 and is largely the same as Squeezebox Radio. So you are using technology that is probably more than 10 years old. The WiFi hardware in the device might be going faulty with age. Re: [slim] Sonos-Google lawsuit
It was in the Slimserver/LMS code since mid-2002 so would have been worked on for some weeks or months before and designed before that. Version 2.3 Release 05/19/02 Multiple players can now synchronize their audio outputs to within 1 millisecond of each other. This allows you to play the same music in more than one room, without any "reverb" effect. If the server knows about more than one client, there is a Sync hronization choice in SLIMP3 Home. Press RIGHT to enter that area. Scroll through the other players and press RIGHT to sync up. Press right again to unsync. https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/55f8e3f3d584baf6a3979a13fd23c7ef8e845d59/Changelog2.html#L5 However, I have not read the Sonos patent or the details of their claim against Google. Note though ... it is unlikely to have been about the case that there is synchronisation but instead about 1 or 2 key features of how it was described in the patent and how they think Google did near enough the same thing. Re: [slim] Change password without remote? SB3
I think the Net::UDAP tool works with SB3 (based on what I have seen someone else report long ago). https://github.com/robinbowes/net-udap Paul Webster author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), planetradio (bauer - kiss, absolute, scala, jazzfm etc), kcrw, abc australia and cbc/radio-canada and, via the extra \"radio now playing\" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-announce-radio-now-playing-plugin ---- Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115579 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Setting up wireless problems
All Raspberry Pi 4 models have WiFi. So something strange is happening. >From the pCP diagnostics page you could check config.txt and dmesg output to verify that WiFi really is enabled. Is there anything in your WiFi SSID or password that is "unusual" (not simple a-z,0-9). Re: [slim] https connection to LMS ?
People asking for https does come up occasionally but given that the hardware players require http then it would be difficult for LMS to make a switch completely. However, you are not asking for that. I am running Chrome 96 and have no issues accessing localhost or 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.x.y Google are making changes in this area - but I think it is for requests that attempt to cross from public to private addresses and private or public to localhost. See https://developer.chrome.com/blog/private-network-access-update/ Do you have some sort of front-end that you access over https that then provides the link to LMS over http? You could run nginx or similar in front of LMS - as a reverse proxy. It could terminate https and then relay over http to LMS. I think that it really should not be necessary with Chrome at least up to and including the planned version 102. Re: [slim] Preferred hardware?
If I had nothing then I would go for Radio because of its portability, screen, good sound (for size) ... but I have 2 (maybe 3 ... not sure). But, in the real world, I already have 2 Boom, some SB2 and Receivers, Controller. I really want a Transporter (for fun) ... but I have absolutely no desire to spend > 250GBP (and probably not > 100). I don't have a Touch - and probably should get one for completeness but I have Jogglers and RPi with touchscreen. Remember though - anything you buy probably has an old power supply (and battery if Radio) ... so you might end up with 2 devices that don't last much longer. Re: [slim] Recommendations for kitchen
Just had to remind myself how favourites are managed ... because I could not see how to examine the URL to see what it was using for BBC stations. Answer ... they have a TuneIn like service (I don't think it is TuneIn ... based on a few stations that I searched for that I know are in TuneIn) so you find the stations in there (via the app) and then play them and set as a favourite if wanted.
