Re: [slim] nothing but white noise????
This has been happening to me on one of my SB3's (I have 2 SB3's, a Transporter and a Duet). It happens to be the unit with the weakest wireless signal strength (consistently between 40-50%). Basically, every once in a while, when starting a track I get the white noise...I can press "play" and it will re-start the song fine, but when it gets to the next track in the playlist, the white noise comes back. If I re-boot my computer (iMac running Leopard) and my wireless router, then the problem disappears for a few days. So I am assuming it has something to do with the wireless connection and the data buffering -- PhilNYC Sonic Spirits Inc. http://www.sonicspirits.com PhilNYC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=837 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45359 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transporter not playing...
Are you connected via wireless? If so, try connecting the Transporter to your router via Ethernet and see if it plays (make sure to change the network configuration to Wired). If it plays fine that way, see if there's a firmware upgrade for your wireless router. -- PhilNYC Sonic Spirits Inc. http://www.sonicspirits.com PhilNYC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=837 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35907 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Does slimserver need to be some complicated?
Maybe its because I use iTunes to rip and manage my music and I don't mess around with a lot of the settings, but I find the UI to be incredibly easy to use in terms of finding the music I want to play and creating playlists, etc. I did spend some time making sure the file types are set the way I want, as well as some of the other performance parameters (eg. fixing digital volume, etc), but beyond that it all seems very intuitive to me... -- PhilNYC Sonic Spirits Inc. http://www.sonicspirits.com PhilNYC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=837 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35906 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Upgraded my router
I had been having some problems with my Transporter connected wirelessly to my network; it was unable to receive an IP address via DCHP, and it couldn't play Internet Radio (it would say it was connected, but couldn't complete buffering of the stations). Then, over the last week, it seemed like the TP was dropping off the network every 30-40 seconds. Network strength was being consistently reported as 85%+, but it kept dropping. The odd thing was that my SB2 was having no problems at all, so I was pretty sure it couldn't have been my router. That said, my broadband provider (Verizon FIOS) had recently changed router brands; they had given me a D-Link last year that had firmware dated 1995, and in the last few months, they were distributing ActionTec routers. So I decided to upgrade routers to see what happened. Wow...what a difference! Without changing anything asides from my router, the Transporter is now able to receive IP addresses via DHCP, I can get Internet Radio...and beyond that, there is no sluggishness in using the remote to navigate my music library whatsoever (a problem I did have with the old router). So...it appears that the router does play a role in how well things work... -- PhilNYC Sonic Spirits Inc. http://www.sonicspirits.com PhilNYC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=837 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35855 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
